These model ears look exactly as pictured. The silicone backing is not thick enough for the piece to stand up on its own. The ear is made of a stiff silicone and while not tacky does have some catch to it. The ear is quite sturdy and won't easily deform or tear. I use these for shaping and displaying ear wires, a type of jewelry. The ears are stiff enough to use as a form to shape around the back, where they meet the silicone backing. The consistency of the entire ear is similar to that of an earlobe. There isn't a delineation between skin and cartilage stiffnesses because the model is made of one material in one piece, so the ears are slightly on the soft side. Overall, I'm happy with these model ears. They serve their function well.

I make wire jewelry. I will use the fake ears to learn to make Elf ear decorations and ear cuffs. I wanted these models to practice my new hobby on. They will work great for me.

So I hobby-hop and I get hooked into doing a new thing really easy, but I rarely follow through 100% or even get halfway before I lose interest or motivation. So i got a few piercings over the summer & decided I would start doing them myself & figured getting a fake ear to practice on would be good to start off with. So i bought this and some needles & lemme tell yall... I poked 3-4 holes, literally could not see them at all because the silicone would blend into itself, so I just started jabbing an earring in, got frustrated & quit LOL. But I still recommend getting this if you're learning/practicing how to pierce, I just need more patience. Looks just as the photo & is extremely squishy.
