4 Buttons Remote Flip Key Shell For VW Passat Jetta GOLF No Chips Inside

This worked great at replacing an old casing. The plastic case and rubber buttons feel durable but not as nice as the OEM vw key. If you don't have the ability to swap the ignition key from the metal hinge you have to have the key blank cut as the old key won't fit in the new housing. Also the two havles of the key fob come apart a lot easier than the vw one. It maybe a problem of you have a big key chain that gets caught in your pocket, but otherwise its solid. MAKE SURE YOU SWAP OVER THE RFID CHIP OR YOUR CAR WILL NOT START. It is a black glass tube the size of a grain of rice, make sure you do not break it. Use nail polish remover to dissolve the glue.

These work awesome for my 02 VW GTI. The pictures are somewhat misleading. The first picture shows a different fob than what you will recieve. The main picture has no split in the middle and the small led is located at at the top right. The fob you will recieve HAS the split in the middle and the led is located on the bottom portion to the right as soon in the other pictures. Be careful swapping over the RFID chip. Plastic computer/phone pry tools work well for it. Put a dab of silicone in the new RFID slot and you're good to go. As for the shell being too tight on the key after you transfer your key over, you can either shave down the sides a bit to match the oem fob or do what I did and wind the spring twice instead of once before closing it up. Stops it from binding up and is super powerful. Great deal.

I have a 2002 Passat and bought this as a replacement for the old key housing since it was worn out and had a broken key ring. The install is easy and very straightforward; all of the original parts fit perfectly fine in the new housing. The product is nice, but definitely not perfect, as the button to release the key sticks and the key does not flip out easily. I hope that over regular use it will become less rigid. My Jetta key was so worn out that the key would not stay folded in. I purchased this replacement shell hoping to move my key, encoder chip, and remote guts over. It was a simple process. Removing the transponder capsule was a little challenging, but I was able to carefully remove it using a stout paperclip bent at the end to hook and remove the glass capsule. Be careful that you don't use too much force and break the capsule.Great quality key shell, and my OEM key transferred without any problem. Like having a brand new key.

This is a great deal to freshen up a worn out key fob. I had some difficulty swapping over my original cut key. They plastic part of the case isn't cast exactly like the original and can make it difficult to flip the key out, or for it to stay fully closed. By swapping just the cut part of the key, which is actually two pieces, the swivel part and the key part, I was able to have a perfectly functioning key. There is a small roll pin retaining the cut portion of the key. If you are cutting a new key this shouldn't be a problem. Don't forget to swap over the RFID chip so the immobilizer will let the car start.

I was not able to transfer my key to this fab, as the case is slightly different than the one that came with my '07 Rabbit. I was, however able to join the old key half with the new chip/button half so I could replace the worn out buttons. (using my old chip of course. Ignition "pill" is housed in the key part so I didn't have to transfer that)A VW logo was not included. (or it was loose and I threw it out)I feel I got my $3 worth.

The top front portion of plastic housing contains a microchip that is coded to your car. Without this being in rang of the ignition the car will start and run for about 2 second and then shut off. You will need to either use the existing piece of plastic with the new housing, or carefully remove the coded chip and install it in the new housing.

I purchased this product because my current key fob has seen far better days. My panic button is actually non existent at this point. I wanted to freshen up the key and get all of it's designed functionality back.This product arrived as advertised. It is a new SHELL for a VW key fob. I see other reviewers mentioning FCC IDs and being de-programmed after install. I didn't have that experience. I opened my old key fob and transferred the circuit board, demobilizer thing-a-ma-bob-er, and actual key over to the new housing. Went outside and started up my car. Works perfectly. There are even detailed "how-to" instructions on youtube. Thanks!
