Collection Unisex Digital Watch

I spent ages trawling through the hundreds of Casio watches on Amazon. I wanted something that was simple, reliable and also looked authentically retro. I spent a lot of time choosing between this and the W214H. In fact I was so indecisive I bought the latter as well because I couldn't decide between the two. My concern was that the numbers on the 800HG watch would be too large or the watch just wouldn't look good enough. All my fears were allayed when opening the box: it was love at first site. This watch looks very retro indeed, helped especially by the slight orange screen tint which massively adds to its 80s appeal, in fact it goes nicely with skin tone so it doesn't look out of place. The matt black bezel is much better than a gloss one, and looks far classier, in my opinion. The numbers certainly aren't too big and look just right on the screen. It's 100M waterproof too, and since I'm going to Turkey this summer and will likely spend a lot of time in the sea, I needn't worry about leaving this on the beaches. Now, there are two versions of this watch, both of which I own. There is the standard "silver" 800H which is very popular on Amazon, and the more uncommon "gold" version 800HG, which is this one. Having worn the 800HG for a few days before the "silver" one turned up, I can say that the "gold" version looks far more interesting with its orange tinted screen and the thin gold line around the screen which offsets the matt black nicely. The "silver" 800H has this light blue line around the screen which doesn't show up in the Amazon pic and makes the watch look a little cheap in comparison. The 800HG definitely wins over the two in my book: it's more interesting to look at and has more personality. Own this watch and you'll definitely have something more unusual but great looking over the more standard Casios - and that's whether you think gold is your colour or not [I'm more of a silver person, ironically]. Once you start configuring the watch you'll remember how tricky it can be to set the time on a digital like this...but after a couple of minutes' fiddling it's all done. Some people seem to complain about the backlight being dim, and while the light is dimmer than some Casios on this watch, it is perfectly adequate to read the watch in total darkness. You also get a stopwatch if, like me, you like keeping track of running times when your phone app has a chance to fail [Runtastic crashed during a 10K run for me, very annoying... so much for modern tech]. As if these qualities weren't enough, this watch has a ten year battery life and is only £14, so if something goes terribly wrong with it you can just get another. All in all, it's hard to lose out. The only thing I'd really want that's missing here is a month-to-month calendar... but how the hell would they fit it on the screen?! Update May 2015: Two years later! I've worn this watch every day since purchase and I still love it. The old strap started to break and I was faced with the choice of getting a new watch or replacing the strap. I couldn't find anything else I liked online as much so I changed the strap, and it looks good as new. Well, there are a few very minor specs in the face from long-term use, but this watch has stood up to repeated use and has stood the test of time. Hardly, sturdy, reliable, and good-looking.

Fantastic watch for the price paid. Casio are always the best watches in my opinion and this is probably the best one I own. The display is bigger than the F91W so much easier to read at a glance. The watch gives you all the information you need on one display, time, date and day, also the year if you ever needed it. A great feature of this watch is that it features a dual time display which allows you to set a time for another country and also displays your home countries time below. Overall this is a amazing watch and offers everything you need and more for a low cost and a 10 year battery life.

The moment you put it on, the nostalgia hits. The sleek, retro aesthetic is timeless and effortlessly cool, pairing perfectly with everything from gym gear to smart casual outfits. Crucially, it is incredibly lightweight and comfortable. I often forget I'm wearing it, which is something I can't say about my heavier, more expensive watches. The quality of the stainless steel band is fantastic for the price point, proving reliable and easy to adjust.

I have hardly had this new watch long enough to say much about it. But this was a direct replacement for one of exactly the same model which I'd had for 3 years or so and, on the assumption that it will do the same job, I do think I can comment. I've found this model very serviceable. Its water resistance is excellent. I don't hesitate to swim with it on. Accuracy is far better than the makers claim of 30 seconds a month. My previous one might have gained or lost a second or two over 3 months, if that. The information display of day, date and month in addition to the obvious one of time is very useful, I find. The stopwatch works perfectly too. The alarm is loud enough for me, easy to set and completely reliable. Resin watch straps like this can have a fairly short life, I know from experience, but the one on this one's predecessor was undamaged after 3 years. Digital watches are not exactly things of beauty but I'm perfectly happy with the appearance of this one and prefer its styling to most others. For its modest price, I've had excellent service from this watch and can thoroughly recommend it.

This is a great watch, and is unbelievable value for money. I bought mine in 2019 and now in 2026, it’s still working perfectly. All I have had to do is replace the strap, which I did yesterday.

Amazing for heavy duty use. Nice matte black and flexible material. Great size and even has a light for in the dark so it’s easy to see.

Brilliant little watch. It is just the right amount of retro and functional. I got it for work but tbh I keep it on all the time. Love it.

I'm a lover of G-Shock watches and have a collection of 4 at the moment. Non of my G-Shock's have dual time display mode hence the reason i bought this. I have been on a 3 month trip to Pakistan and wanted a lightweight easy to wear watch. I tell you this little thing did not disappoint. Easy to ready and setup, lightweight and discreet on the wrist and did not stick to my wrist in the hot weather it was extremely comfortable and not out of place when worn with traditional attire. Big easy to read display with a backlight and full day with date. In the 3 months over there it has gained time by +50 secs which is not too bad in opinion. After watching a YouTube tutorial i have unlocked the timer function so it is now competing with my G-Shock's functionality. Water resistant in the shower, while having a wash and rain even after I've removed the back (I'm a normal person who doesn't scuba dive). I dropped it a couple of times while trying to put it on onto a hard tiled floor and it didn't break as i thought it would. TBH i think ive put this little cheap watch through more than my G-Shock's and it didn't disappoint. I know it's not built like them but completely fulfilled its purpose for what i needed. A great little watch that i don't think i could part with now and it sits on my dresser next to the big boys, its definately won a place in my heart and to think i bought it thinking i don't care if i lose it! Now i can't live without it. A great holiday watch which i won't hesitate to take again!

superbe montre avec chronometre eclairage led calendrier alarme et en plus une pile qui dure dix ans!!!! petit bemol la notice n'est pas en francais( la montre est de type anglosaxonne) donc les jours et les mois sont en anglais !!! on peut la regler quand meme sans notice en tatonnant

CASIO ha davvero tantissimi modelli in catalogo e non è per nulla semplice scegliere quello più adatto alle proprie esigenze (sebbene sul sito della CASIO tutti i modelli vengono presentati con le loro specifiche tecniche in maniera chiara ed esaustiva, un sito ben concepito così come gli orologi stessi). Inutile starvi a parlare della storia di questo brand (storia dell'orologeria) e della bontà dei suoi modelli (orologi di pochi euro che durano -almeno- 10 anni). Questo modello si chiama 800H e su Amazon potete trovare questa versione più classica con display chiaro e illuminazione verde, la versione con display chiaro e illuminazione arancione e, infine, la versione con display scuro (i caratteri sono chiari) e illuminazione verde. Esistono poi altre versioni con la cassa colorata (ne ho visti alcuni blu e verde militare, ma non li ho trovati in vendita su Amazon e non so neanche se siano originali...). In merito alle 3 versioni (che ho acquistato tutte) posso dirvi che quelle con display chiaro sono decisamente più comode. Il display si vede bene a qualsiasi angolazione e anche con sole forte o quando c'è meno luminosità. Si vede bene anche con i numeri meno marcati quando la batteria ha qualche anno e non è del tutto carica. Non posso dire lo stesso della versione con il display nero: se inclinate l'orologio ad una certa angolatura allora si vede bene (e forse anche meglio rispetto al display chiaro), ma generalmente è meno visibile e sei portato ad avvicinare l'orologio per guardare meglio e assicurarti di aver visto bene. Sebbene il display nero sia più figo ed elegante, non si può dire che sia altrettanto pratico. Io ho preso le due versioni e le ho utilizzate durante i miei allenamenti di apnea e posso confermare che sotto acqua il display chiaro è più visibile e pratico. In merito alle caratteristiche e alle funzioni questo orologio da circa 29€ (febbraio 2023) ha davvero tutto quello che serve: - è impermeabile fino a 100 metri di profondità e io posso garantire che regge fino a 5 metri per adesso (appena avrò modo di andare più profondo o al mare vi aggiornerò la recensione) - i tasti si riconoscono subito al tatto e la navigazione nel menù è logica e intuitiva come in tutti i prodotti CASIO - La cassa in resina e il cinturino sportivo sono leggeri, resistenti e durevoli nel tempo (solitamente a distanza di qualche anno, si potrebbe spezzare il cinturino, ma tenete presente che i ricambi sono facilissimi da trovare sia online che nei negozi di orologeria e i prezzi decisamente contenuti...) - display ampio (più ampio del modello F-91) pur rimanendo un orologio compatto e poco spesso. Sulla schermata principale visualizzate orario (formato 24 ore o 12 ore), indicazione del giorno (MON, TUE, WED...), anno, mese e giorno. TUTTO QUELLO CHE SERVE! - FUNZIONI: AL - allarme/sveglia, ST - timer (cronometro con anche i tempi parziali o giri), DT - dual time (comodo se come me avete necessità di avere un secondo orario, io ho messo dell'Indonesia) - MOD! ebbene si, come potete vedere dalle mie foto, è possibile "moddare" questo piccolo gioiellino: la più semplice mod è quella di rimuovere la saldatura che vedete indicata nella freccia rossa sulla mia (esistono vari tutorial sul tubo che vi spiegano come fare senza rovinare la scheda, ma invalidando il prodotto dalla garanzia..) per attivare una nuova funzione che è il conto alla rovescia (TA). Per me questa funzione è utilissima perchè utilizzo il CASIO durante i miei allenamenti di apnea statica ed è davvero comodo avere in un orologio da poche decine di euro una funzione utilissima come questa che solitamente si trova solo su modelli di fascia di prezzo superiore. L'operazione è semplice da eseguire, ma dovete essere pratici a rimuovere la saldatura con la punta di un giravite oppure con un classico saldatore (a 300 °C, usando una treccia in rame e del flussante...), altrimenti, potete rischiare di danneggiare l'orologio e poi non funziona più... In conclusione, non penso ci sia da aggiungere altro, CASIO e il modello 800H sono eccezionali.
