Sharpie Laundry Permanent Marker Fine Tip - Black

I did not purchase this item for its standard use. I had dyed a new pair of trousers black, but sadly it wasn't fully successful and the thread was left white. I bought this marker to try and rectify the problem and make them look less silly. I had to give the trousers a couple of applications. However, although the thread perhaps isn't quite as black as the garment they are now finally wearable. This extremely inexpensive item has really saved the day for me. :) Additionally, I now have a very handy pen which I can use for many other things. WARNING!!! - Be very careful not to get onto your hands, as it is very hard to get off. I had to use nail varnish remover and even then I couldn't get it all off. :(

I was looking for an easy and effective way to label my daughters uniform. In the past I have used the iron on name labels but found these have peeled off and can take a while trying to adhere them to every item of clothing. After a bit of research I decided to go with the sharpie clothing pen as its permanent even after washing the garment and is quick and easy to use. I have not given this 5 stars simply because it all depends on what fabric you are writing on as to how well this pen will work. I found on silky labels the ink ran so the name is not very clear. On cotton it was a lot better and also on school bags. I wouldn't say the nib is particularly thin so writing is not as precise as a biro. Luckily this worked well on a lot of items so it did do the job, for the silkier labels I just wrote initials so it was easier to read.

Great quality pen, with a multitude of uses

OK, so whilst cleaning the bath I managed to splash some bleach onto the sleeve of a black hoodie, washed it off as quick as I could but the result that horrible pink patch you get. Didn't want to chuck the hoodie, so tried colouring it in with a "normal" permanent marker, however that washed off within 2 washes. I looked into this instead, it's done a much better job and has withstood several washes! However I can see that if you were to use this for the purpose of marking a child's clothing or similar it will definitely blot.

Used to write door number on clothing label. Ink bleeds but if space is big enough, this is not a problem. Does face over time with multiple washes.

Excellent for naming clothing. Used this for my dad’s clothes when he went in to a care home. Doesn’t wash out or fade

Works well. Bearing in mind some of the reviews, I've been careful in the way I use this to avoid smudging by not pressing too hard. I think you just have to be a bit careful although there could be some improvement in design to avoid the issues faced by some previous users. I've still to try it through the wash so may need to update review at a later date.

To my surprise, This Sharpie really does stay on your clothes when you wash them and it works extremely well with iron on clothing tags that you can either write people's names on or make custom clothing with. This pen, Although probably not ideal for this purpose, Can probably painstakingly be used to colour in an entire design on a full size item of clothing as well. It would probably take a while though, because it's just a singular standard size Sharpie obviously. I will be buying another one of these again when mine runs out eventually. I would definitely recommend this purchase to anyone looking to mark clothing that's going to be washed and they want the ink to stay.
