Great but needs a newt catcher foam
Great product. It keeps my pond surface clear. There is a problem if you have newts in your pond. The mesh in the strainer is wide and would allow newts to be pulled into the pump. I put some coarse filter foam into the bottom of the strainer which catches the newts. It does not effect the pump flow but it does need checking daily for captured newts.

Seems to do what it is designed to
All pond solutions are a fantastic company that I have used before. All the products I have bought from them work really well and are good value for money. I hope that this skimmer will work just as well.

Works well
The media could not be loaded. I bought this to clear the duckweed but the basket that collects the debris has quite large holes that the duckweed would pass through . So I made an “inner “ liner from a fishing net and now it catches the duckweed as well as leaves

Does a great job
As stated this keeps my surface free from debris and really easy to clean. Along with other pond items it has helped keep my water clean and fish happy and in the event of an over feed with floating food stops it from spoiling the surface and my pondwould recommend

Buyer beware - a 2 way pump is required. This is not made clear by Allpondsolutions.
I bought a normal pump to run the filter. I then realised that it needs a 2 way pump; an inlet to draw in water and an outlet to release water. If this had been made clear within the description/information, I would not have wasted over £100 buying the wrong pump. It seems I am not the only one since I notice comments from people saying the filter does not work. This is because the pump is sending water up through the filter instead of drawing water down the tube. The blurb says that a certain size pump is recommended, but no mention of the type of pump required.

Instruction notes misleading
Apart from the instruction notes being misleading, regarding cutting the length of the filter cartridge down to size (manufacturing company informed of this error) I got the skimmer working OK, then found after a couple of weeks of good skimming, that air locks in the pipe between the pump and skimmer, causing the skimmer to completely fail to operate. I shortened this pipe but still got air locks. This pipe has to be weighted down, just like the skimmer to prevent air raising this pipe up. I am connected to a AqueECO 16000 pump which when the skimmer works, keeps the pond water nice and clear and a leaf free surface too.....

Not great
It does skim the surface but most of the water goes under the float so not really skimming an awful lot
