Plant: Exploring the Botanical World

Don’t think I have ever done an Amazon review but this book is so brilliant I now want every book that phaidon have made. I searched for ages to find a book like this to become a stable part of the art department. I’m an art teacher so this not only has excellent images but a really good selection of good quality artists all in one place. I hadn’t realized but it’s the same format as “the art book” and family and we all know how excellent they are!

I had seen this reviewed on youtube, so it was on my wish list for a while. I finally took the plunge and bought it... It's a WOW! book for me. The photos are gorgeous..tremendous inspiration for me for my crafts, but also just gorgeous to curl up on the couch with a hot drink and look through the glamerous flowers. And it's a very interesting read too.highly recommend this book to everyone from gardener to painter, textile artist to fabric dyer, or just to look at. It's a much prized book in my book collection.

Lovely full page illustrations and images.great range of examples

The long history of botanical illustration has produced some wonderful works of art. This book presents a wide range of beautiful examples from books, manuscripts and photography, mostly western but with a sprinkling of Arabic, India, Chinese and Japanese works. The book production and reproductions are excellent.

Lovely book but it arrived from France with the dust cover looking a bit worse for wear. Almost second hand. But the actual book was fine and the illustrations were beautiful. Did not return because I didn't have time or thought it was that bad.

Absolutely great. Stunning illustrations. Don't think twice if you're looking for a gift for someone who is interested in plants (or plants and art combined)

What a fantastic book! Beautifully designed, well thought out and masterfully executed. I buy a lot of botany books and often find that current titles - despite the advances in print production and publishing in general - look cheap and disappointing compering to books published years ago. Not this one. Phaidon yet again managed to produce a real treasure that would delight any art / nature lover out there. If you can buy only one large format book this year - buy this one. You will cherish it for years to come.

Astonishing for its beauty and intelligent text. Antiquity meets high tech in a brilliant selection which justifies printed matter over the digital screen to explore different cultures through time and place, compare botanical studies with artistic expression or simply stun the viewer. I found the link to this book through the fall issue of British TOWN & COUNTRY. I preordered my copy through amazon.uk and quickly ordered another as a present.

Love this book there is a beautiful among of photos drawing of plants, OLD AND MODERN every thing is there , exactly what I was looking for.

So very much of everything interesting in this book! Inspiring. If you're into botanical prints, this is the book.

This made a wonderful present for a lady who is interested in both art and nature. An outstanding work of art and information source.
