🚀 Elevate Your Projects with Arduino Yun!
The Arduino Yun Microcontroller merges the versatility of Arduino with the robustness of Linux, featuring onboard WiFi, Ethernet, and USB Host capabilities. Weighing only 40.82 grams, it’s designed for seamless internet connectivity and is fully compatible with Arduino Uno R3 shields, making it an ideal choice for innovative projects.

All your Internet of Things projects start here
If you've a any more than a passing interest in building Internet of Things devices then this is the Arduino for you. In this ridiculously small package you have two distinct modules: there is a SoC running a version of Linux - it drives the on-board Wifi, wired networking as well as a USB hub; there is also an Arduino with the standard shield outputs. And there is a bridge component which joins the two halves together to make it greater than the whole. In short you can program the Linux half of the Yun in any language it supports. So far I've stuck to shell scripts because that's all I've needed. But you can run python amongst other things. You can separately program the Arduino in the normal way, over USB. However you can also re-program it via your network - using either the WiFi or wired network connection. The killer feature though is the bridge library. Use this in your Arduino code and you can read and write the Linux file system as well as control the hardware you choose to connect. This makes it easy to build a device that uses information or state from anywhere on the web to drive the electronics you connect to the Arduino. It is also possible to expose REST services over the network so that external servers can hit the Yun's Arduino data pins directly.Make no mistake, this is a phenomenal combination of hardware and software at an insanely low price.

Worst arduino experience! Get a D1 board
After having successfully learnt my way up the arduino family. I thought this would be the BEST way to get started with IoT, rather than the MILLIONS of other wireless devices.I WAS WRONG.I hope this helps those looking for a real IoT platform, go get yourself a D1 Arduino board, it has a built in wifi chip, costs under £10, and it fully compatible with the arduino IDE.You need HACKER level skill in order to make this product work as intended. I received a unit that required me to upgrade the bootloader and system files. This is ridiculous, there is a warning on the Arduino page that it VOIDS your warranty, but you NEED to do it.It requires downloading 3 extra programs which are all fairly complex, and working with the terminal in order to update the board.Worst arduino experience. Please steer far clear, especially in 2016

This is very good. Works out the box and is compatible with most UNO code. The only down side is that the USB host connector stops a lot of shields fitting. So order a stacking header to help. The Linux based OS used is based on OpenWRT which makes it very versatile. Power usage is a little high, 300mA when Wifi is active and sending.

Utterly impressive
Was going to start with the original Arduino Uno but my interest is 'tinkering' with the Internet of Things (IoT). Sign up with Temboo.com and it walks you through all the steps (and gives you almost all the code) to get your Arduino Yun to, say, poll a light detecting diode and send the result straight into a Google Spreadsheet which updates a graph in real-time. Fantastic. The possibilities are limitless.

Feels overpriced for what it is. Should be able to communicate between Arduino and Linux without using up the Serial Port...

Love it! 👍
This is a fab piece of kit. I'm just learning the ropes but it acts as a standalone with its own built in wifi (server!?).Love it! 👍

New and fun
This arrived within days. Its pretty neat too as it has a linux computer on board. It runs Python 2.7 which currently has more libraries than Python 3. So all round, this was a good purchase!

yun for fun
The arduino yun is a fantastic piece of kit if you spend a bit of time learning the code and getting connected i am still learningbut so far its been a blast.
