I read the reviews for a lot of the larger, more blanket type pads and it seems none of them were meant to take your body weight.I actually called Beurer direct to ask them if this pad was suitable for lying on and the customer service representative made further investigations and called me back the next day to confirm it is safe to lie on (obviously do not use it over night to sleep on). I've been using it on the highest heat setting 3 and would prefer it if it got very slightly hotter but none the less it still gives me some comfort and relief on this setting. It's about the right size to heat most of your back, you may need to shift it occasionally to reach all areas. Unfortunately the newer ones seem to wear out and burst very easily, so I thought I would try one of these instead. I've been using it for a few weeks now and have found it really brilliant and soothing. No more making hot water bottles (or getting soaked!) - you just switch it on and it heats up super quickly. I sleep much better and it's so great to be able to switch it back on if I wake up in the night feeling cold or in pain. Although it has 3 heat settings, I only use setting 3, the highest. 1 and 2 don’t provide enough heat. It warms up very quickly though, is well made, and very soft & comfortable.
