This retro handheld looks, feels and plays great. Comes with tons of games. The user interface is nice. The joysticks work really well. The screen and sound are excellent as well

I did have to return the first one I received. However I was quickly sent a replacement and it works fine. So many games, so little time.

It just all of sudden stopped working and no longer turns on after of few days of testing. Wth is happening with it?! I haven't given up on this product yet, so I did order a replacement. I will update this review after I have tested the replacement. 01/12/2026 - I give up on this thing. I realized a few things after actually exploring it and instead of just looking for the popular nostalgic retro games that we played as kids. More than half of these games are completely unheard of and in different languages. 3000+ games of random retro games from where? and when? Who decided to put these games on? It's cool how they were able to fit them on this product, but you'll soon realize how they were able to fit when you see that every game looks like it came from Atari or NES. This whole system began freezing and restarting on me when I began playing the games that came out during the 90's and 2000's which have more complex sequences and play through. For example, Final Fantasy Tactics, SF 3rd Strike, Tekken etc. I see why people resort to just modding a Nintendo Switch or getting a ASUS Rog or Steam Deck. Then after paying for this handheld then they expect you to pay for the updates on the website? Wth?! People said to trouble shoot it and get a SD card reader, but yea, I'm good. Why am I going to go through all that.

Bought this a while back. So far it works as described. It’s easy to set up, but doesn’t have a good site to get more games. There are a lot of games that are in another language though. If you’re trying to play anything beyond the older systems like sega and Nintendo type controls good luck. N64 is beyond unplayable. Saving a game is touch and go as well. It’s still a good little system to waste time on.

I enjoyed the handheld until it software locked its self after a month.

I originally posted a review saying it came with only 21 games but turns out it actually comes with around 4000 after you stick the separate Sd card in. My bad for not reading more carefully but definitely worth the buy now that I know!

I’d have never bought this tiny thing for my big hands if Anbernic’s website and Amazon store didn’t have me convinced that third party accessories worked well. So I bought a “Amazon’s Pick” for Anbernic controller which happened to be a Nintendo Switch controller (makes sense considering the ABXY button layout). The device could not see the controller while in pairing mode. And altogether it recognized the controller when directly connected, it didn’t actually work with any games or navigating the menu. So hand cramp city on the onboard Anbernic micro controller! Next I wanted to connect the console to a TV or monitor. But when connected, i never got a signal. (The settings do not have anything that specifies having to turn it on or off. So it’s assumed to clone both places). Wow. Another glaring bad quality. I really wanted to like this thing because the sheer number of games means hundreds of hours of playing the titles I couldn’t afford in my youth. And although the battery life was not great, the value of the console definitely is. But there was just too many flaws to get over. I returned it. :(
