How many blades are actually in the packet. The description says, 1 unless I am reading it wrong.

as far as I can remember there were 10 blades in the pack, works out at about 50p each, good blades.

No you will require an abra file for that. These are spiraled saw blades for cutting wood.

When the item is referred to as having 'plain' ends, does that mean it has a 'flat' end? If not, which spiral blades have flat ends?

There are two types of blade. Flat end and pin end. The pin end has a small pin. Through it which hooks on a fitting on the jaws.the flat end does not have the pin.the end is slightly flattened to aid clamping but you do need to fit these carefully. I have used a lot of them and they are good blades.
