The Annotated Brothers Grimm: The Bicentennial Edition: Bicentennial Edition, Expanded and Updated

The edition of the book is fabulous - from the lush looking dusk jacket to the dark navy covers of the book it's an absolute pleasure and luxury that one feels from the very first touch.The stories are also great - many of which were excluded in the previous Brother's Grimm editions due to it's contents. Therefore, one can say that the book is primarily dedicated to the adults. Stories feature extensive footnoting, which is helpful for a curious reader.Our family got this book for baby's first Christmas, as we wanted something that would accompany her for many years to come. It is a meaningful book, looks very sturdy, is heavy and large, but these may very well be the reasons why it should be appreciated and loved in many families.Simply a breath of fresh air in comparison with all the Disney Princesses stories.Highly recommended for young and for old.

Loved the whole book

For someone familiar with the well-known Grimm's Tales there is a treat in store as this volume puts these in a context as well as introducing several of the lesser-known tales. Many of these are dark enough to satisfy those who relish the grim of the Grimm. Beautiful illustrations and a gorgeous cover add to the pleasure of settling down with a copy of this in your lap. Candlelight optional....Incidentally, I gave this as a gift and the recipient (an adult) is delighted and has been immersing himself in it.

It has the properly gruesome versions of the tales and a good selection of illustrations. My only criticisms would be that the cover image is not on the actual hardcover but on a paper cover and that the illustrations could be bigger.

excellent book, looks stunning and the drawing are very detailed. bought this for my daughter who is very interested in the history of fairy tales and love detailed drawing so this book is perfect for her. well worth the money

Bought this for a present. A lovely looking book with loads of stories. Some I had not heard of before. My daughter loves it will keep in her collection forever. Beautifully bound with lovely illustrations.

There where a few negative comments in the reviews for this book. However, if you are the type of reader who is interested in the history as well as the stories then you should like this.

This was bought as a gift for a lover of Grimm's tales and a performing arts student. Certainly not the sugar coated fairy tales but a thoroughly appreciated and loved gift.
