For around 2 years now I've been searching for the perfect knife blade maintenance tool - something that could get my tired old knives to the condition I remember from my days as a Butcher many moons ago - trying everything from cheap gadgets to grinding wheels to butchers steels to sandstone blocks to expensive sharpening systems sharpening and the like - to no avail . then I got his little unsuspecting Jem - if your knivese are blunt - simply rasp them at a shallow angle - applying a bit of pressure - for about 7 strokes on each side of the blade - thenrepeat the process with less pressure - then repeat again with hardly any pressure at all - Jobs done and you end up with a knife that really is as sharp as a razor! - Buy it be careful cos they do come out blisteringly sharp when you do it right and enjoy effortleely cutting with your pristine sharp knives x x x

OK for small tools

Some scythes are sharpened by peening with a hammer (Austrian types etc.) and others like mine need a stone or a tool like this. I keep on losing my stones in the grass, so the handle on this makes that less likely. I've tried everything to sharpen my scythe, including disk grinders, sanding disks, files, stones, sandpaper, other steel tool edges, prayers, curses, etc.This one seems to do the job. I've had it a month, with the right technique it gives great results. I sharpen the upper face of the scythe blade more than the lower face that is against the ground, in a ratio of around 4:1 in effort on the upper versus effort on the lower. I saw that on a video somewhere.Also, it doesn't need water to hand, which is more convenient. I don't know how long it will last.Your mileage may vary. You may learn your own technique. You could spend your entire life learning other peoples' methods, and go crazy in the process.This tool will make the final decision easier.

No afila muy bien. Más bien deja los filos de los cuchillos mordidos por lo que no es muy recomendable.

Je viens de la tester sur des outils de jardin et bien !!! Elle ne vaut rien, donc j'en recommande une avant qu'il n'y en plus. Une face plate, l'autre côté arrondie, parfait pour affûter cisailles, sécateurs, lames de taille haie. Je recommande vraiment cette petite lime.Olivier

I used this file to sharpen a very old hedge trimmer that works great now. It is easy to use and the curved side came in handy in places between the teeth. Very happy with this.
