Great piece of kit but beware the short pattress screws
We moved into our new home just before Christmas. The previous owners had installed electric underfloor heating in the master en-suite which is lovely - especially during winter. However, what's not so lovely is having it on all the time wasting energy. From what I could ascertain from them it was only in the region of 175-250W due to the fairly small space but even then most timers that fit into the space taken by a single fused spur couldn't handle even that inductive wattage. Seeing that this can cope with a 3kW immersion heater as well as 750W or incandescent or even 500W of fluorescent (the first and last of those being inductive loads) gave me the confidence that this was suitable. It fit in in no time at all - electricity off, old fused spur out and this on in. The earth clamp is oddly marked - it doesn't say earth of have either of the usual symbols for earth but it's clearly marked in the document that comes with it that it's a loop earth. Plus it's the only spare connector after the two in (LIn, NIn), and two out (LOut and Nout) terminals. Programming was easy enough following the instructions - I'd say hang onto them or photograph them for the future if you need/want to change the programming. We just needed a single on and off function for the morning. I'd have given this 5 stars and the only reason it gets 4 is that the screws are just too short. This was fitted into a slim metal back-box/pattress but didn't reach. Thankfully, this seems to be a bit common so I have long spares just in case.

Not sure this is exactly as described
I bought this because it seemed to be the one time switch that cut both the live and neutral connections, thereby preventing the pond pump I use it for from tripping the circuit breaker. However, the enclosed circuit diagram seems to say that it is only the override switch that does the simultaneous disconnection, and it has been no help to me. Nice and easy to use, though.

Excellent bit of kit
This is an excellent bit of kit in my opinion. I have looked quite extensively for something similar at this price, but there is very little available, so I bought this based on previous reviews. Thankfully this does the job nicely. In my case it is being used to control an electric towel rail. In fact I was so impressed with the first, I bought a second for another rail. Some reviews suggest the programming is tricky. I disagree - it follows a pretty standard process for a device such as this and if you can read the instructions then really, how can it be a problem. I had mine up and running in a few minutes. There are four switching periods per day, which are fully configurable. You can run the unit in various modes, such as All days the same, weekdays and weekends different.. The only issue with the programming is that once you set a switching time, you cannot unset it without resetting the whole unit. I.e. you cannot make the unit "bypass" a switching time that you have set. I did this by accident, setting an "ON" time at 10.30am... However, I discovered that if I set the unit to also go "OFF" at 10.30 am, then basically nothing happens. (It's just that when you first get the unit, that time slot will be set to "-- --" and you can only get it back to this if you reset the unit and re-program it...) This unit would also be ideal for controlling other things - I would like to use it for my drive lights - however, these are very low power LEDs and I believe below the limit of this unit - it's something you have to check if you want to switch low power devices, as there is a minimum load required. The "off switch" prevents the unit from powering up whatever you have connected it to, whilst retaining all the clock settings etc. So, quite a convenient way to temporarily disable your device. (For example, I prevented the towel rail from coming on during very hot summer days, without having to reprogram anything)
