"Porta Pro" On Ear Headphones

i was nearly going to buy some £40-50 headphones, not sure why because im a student and cannot afford it! but then i saw these and all the reviews where great and CNET highly recommend them and they are REALLY REALLY CHEAP! so i listened to reason and bought them. they are really great from the point of view of someone who just likes listening to music but isnt an audiophile! at loud volumes the bass pumps into your ears but the treble is never sacrificed because of this, it is still crystal clear! my girlfriend bought some WESC's at the same time and although they look like the coolest thing in the world, the treble is slightly sacrificed for the great bass on them. so i'm happy with my little portapro's! with rock music each instrument is clear and powerful for electro/dance the bass is awesome! for classical you can hear each section of the orchestra clearly and even hear people coughing in the concert hall! This is why you have to buy these: -CHEAP -sound great -fold away -very comfortable -lifetime no questions asked warranty- will you ever need another pair of headphones ever again!? -look veerrrry cool. even if not WESC's this is the one con i have found: - the ipod quality cannot keep up with them! i first tried them on my ipod and at loud volumes the bass slightly looses quality and i thought it was the headphones. but i plugged them into my macbook and the quality stays perfect at loudest volume on it! in fact at this very moment i'm listening to justice through them on my macbook! amazing.

I LOVE these headphones. To the extent that this is my 6th pair. I'll elaborate- I wear them around my neck pretty much 24/7, with the exception of sleep. As a result, they wear out (speaker connection goes/connection to jack wears out) after about a year or so of EXTENSIVE DAILY USE, which for most people I don't think will be a problem. You'll be able to tell how far through their life they are by a rattling, which is the Bass vibrating the speaker against the housing (I listen with a bass-heavy EQ on my MP3 player, which probably contributes to this). BUT The phones come with Koss' excellent lifetime warranty- send them to the nearest repair centre with proof of purchase after they've warn out and they'll send a brand new (reconditioned?) pair, free of charge! This takes about 3-4 weeks. There are 4 main reasons I love these headphones: 1. They are light/compact enough to wear all the time 2. They look cool as hell, in a retro sort of way 3. They're comfortable (I hate in-ear buds, these phones also have an old-skool tension adjuster on the housing that, is sort of a token gesture but, does wonders on a long train journey 4. Most importantly, they sound PHAT! Clear hi-tones, deep bass, which is the main reason I got them. I listen mainly to funk/jazz-funk, hip-hop, electronic stuff with lots of bass, but they sound great with pretty much all types of music- especially considering these are personal stereo headphones. I see more and more people wearing these bad boys around of late, which is a good sign I guess, so if you don't mind seeming a bit pedestrian then grab these because they're great. In fact, reason 5: 5. They're the best over-ear personal stereo headphones you can get for under £20 (in my opinion- and I'm a musician!) Fantastic value for money, I recommend them to everyone who asks "what's the deal with those things around your neck?". And that's actually quite a lot.

The Good side: Simply Impressed!! Bass is Rich, Deep and Sexy!! The Mids and Highs are very well balanced and of excellent delivery but I admit they could be slightly better; but at this price, you deserve way less. These headphones have the tendency to get better and better the more you use it...its simply wow! Can go Super Loud!! It defines truly portable with its sleek folding feature and custom porta-case and its temple pressure adjusting feature and cushion pads really seals the deal in comfort. Purchasing a pair of these is really a no-brainer!! Oh and I forgot to add....NO QUESTIONS ASKED LIFETIME WARANTY WHOOP WHOOP!!!! and it gives a really cool look too especially if you love retro-fashion. The kinda bad side : It doesnt FEEL as durable as some other competitors but i havn't had reason to say it isn't. The cable is comparitively short compared to some of its other competitors but it doesnt affect portability in anyway. Also its performance gets better with the quality of the sound card and output power of the device you use. The higher the quality of your device, the better the sound so for really really cheap mp3 players, you may not experience that Potential Super-awesomeness. The only truly negative thing i can say about these is that at high volume (75%-100%) on Laptops and (80%-100%) on smart-phones, they 'bleed': music you are listening to can be heard by others around you loudly so it isnt exactly monogamous with your ears like in-ear earphones (duh!!) but even at 50% volume these headphones give you that WOW without having to turn it up so high and maintain C.I.A-like relationships with your ear canals!! You can't go wrong with these if you're looking for an affordable headphone for daily or casual listening to audio files. ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!! Any questions? Simply contact me :)

Seit langem benutze ich bereits die reine "Kopfhörer" Version des Koss Porta Pro und war bislang vollauf begeistert. Für unterwegs eine sehr gute alternative zu den manchmal nervigen und Trittschall übertragenden In-Ear Headsets. Die Offenheit ist Gewöhnungssache. D. h. ich empfinde es angenehm etwas von der Umwelt mitzubekommen. Allerdings empfindet es die "Umgebung" nicht immer angenehm etwas von meiner Mucke mitzubekommen ;) Aber in diesem Falle packt man eben das In-Ear Headset aus. Tragekomfort - aus meiner Sicht sehr gut, Klang sehr gut. Ich entschloss mich nun die Headset Version des Koss Klassikers anzuschaffen und es war- dies vorab - eine sehr gute Investition. Klang wie gewohnt sehr gut - starker Bass, ausgewogene Mitten und ggf. etwas zu starke Höhen. Ebenso hat sich der angenehme Tragekomfort gegenüber der klassischen Version ohne Mikrofon nicht verschlechtert. Die Telefonfunktion leistet gute Dienste. Meine Stimme wird als angenehm empfunden und klar von den Gegenüber verstanden. Ich selbst kann meine Telefongesprächspartner sehr gut und angenehm verstehen. Die Qualität und Haltbarkeit scheint ähnlich unverwüstlich zu sein als bei der alten Version. Dies, obwohl der Kopfhörer ein wenig zerbrechlich wirkt - isser aber nicht - Langjährige Erfahrung. Was im Dauerbetrieb verschlissen war, waren die Schaumstoff Ohrpolster und die bekommt man für recht wenig Geld wieder nachgekauft. Der Austausch ist sogar für mich - mit meinen beiden linken Händen - kein unlösbares Problem gewesen. Einziger Kritikpunkt meinerseits sind die recht dünnen Kabel vom Hauptkabel zu den beiden Hörern. Wie haltbar diese sein werden, wird sich zeigen. In jedem Falle eine gute Kaufentscheidung.

Als kurze Einführung sei gesagt dass ich in der letzten Zeit viele Kopfhörer hören durfte. Von den bekannten Bose & Sony ANCs über die B&W und B&O ANCs bis hin zu den Einhörern der Branche wie dem Beyerdynamic Lagoon ANC oder dem AKG N700NC. Dies alles hatte einen sehr guten Grund, nämlich den best klingendsten ANC Kopfhörer mit gutem ANC zu finden. Lange Rede, kurzer Sinn: Bei mir wurde es der AKG N700NC Aber es ging weiter: Der AKG war eigentlich eher ein Zufallstreffer ... mit etwas Recherche wurde ich auf die Studio und Referenzmodelle von AKG aufmerksam. Mein erster Testkandidat war der halboffene K240 Studio. Da ich vorher noch nie einen halboffenen Kopfhörer gehört hatte war der schon mal eine Hausnummer (zu dem Zeitpunkt alles noch ohne Kopfhörerverstärker). Der nächste Step war dann ein AKG K245 den ich (mit Modifikationen) immer noch besitze. Zwischendrin hatte ich mal testweise für ein paar Tage den AKG K712 Pro der mir aber wegen dem Bass nicht so zusagte. Warum ich so weit aushole? Danke dass Sie bis hier her gelesen haben. Ich hoffe ich werde sie nicht enttäuschen. Nach dem Suchen und Finden des (für mich) perfekten Kopfhörers stieß ich per Zufall auf den Koss Porta Pro. Als Baujahr 1981 und langjähriger Kopfhörerverächter kannte ich den Koss tatsächlich nicht. Nun ja, nachdem er seit 1983 auf dem Markt ist und er scheinbar viele Liebhaber hat dachte ich mir: Her damit, bei 35€ ist nix kaputt. Mein Fazit (und daher das lange Ausholen): Für mich ist der Koss Porta Pro ein vollwertiger offener Kopfhörer. Er repräsentiert alles was einen offenen Kopfhörer ausmacht: Die Bühne ist echt breit ... ich würde sogar behaupten breiter als mein AKG K245 und fast so breit wie der AKG K712 Pro. Die Abbildungsqualität ist top (und das nicht nur wegen des Preises): Bässe sind definitiv da (die Koss sind keine Beats ... ganz klar ... die Bässe sind sauber strukturiert aber nicht so analytisch wie bei einem AKG), die Mitten empfinde ich als sehr angenehm (ich denke die Koss sind auch gut zum Hörbücher hören - was ich noch nicht probiert habe), die Höhen sind absolut präzise, nicht flatternd oder spitz (auch bei schlecht aufgenommenen Scheiben). Da mich an einem Kopfhörer primär der Klang interessiert hier mein Fazit: - Klang: siehe oben (nicht nur für den Preis) - Tragekomfort: Gut (der selbstverstellende Bügel nervt etwas beim aufsetzen aber wenn er sitzt dann sitz er) - Optik & Stylefaktor: Also in der Öffentlichkeit wird man schon blöd angesehen wenn man den Porta auf hat. Ich finde ihn optisch grenzwertig was bei dem Klang aber absolut egal ist finde ich - Praxis: Der Klappmechanismus funktioniert super und der Porta wird wirklich klein. Im Vergleich zu InEars ist das "Packmaß" zwar trotzdem noch groß aber mE ist er eh weniger für unterwegs gedacht (siehe nachfolgend) - Portabilität: Klar, der Porta Pro soll eigentlich portabel sein (was er auch ist). Seine klanglichen Stärken spielt er aber eher in ruhigeren Gefilden aus. Warum? Nun ja, der Porta Pro als offener Kopfhörer lässt alles (und damit meine ich ALLES) von der Aussenwelt zum Ohr durch. Wenn man durch eine belebte Innenstadt geht bleibt von dem sehr guten Klang kaum mehr was übrig denn man hört wirklich ALLES von aussen. Ausserdem sei gesagt dass man ihn mobil kaum wirklich einfach absetzen kann weil er sich dann sofort wieder "zusammenzieht" um klein zu sein. Ist der Porta Pro deswegen schlecht? Bei Gott NEIN! Man sollte ihn nur lieber daheim hören. Und da aber bitte oft und lange denn er ist zumindest für mich einer der coolsten Kopfhörer den es gibt. Zum Abschluss mein Setup der Fairness halber: - Mac Pro - FiiO E10K Olympus 2 Kurz dazu: Der Koss Porta Pro hört sich am Kopfhörerverstärker (wie jeder Kopfhörer) besser an als an einem Smartphone. Der Unterschied zu einem iPhone X mit dem schundigen Lightning-to-Klinke Adapter ist hörbar, keine Frage. Ich empfinde den Unterschied aber als verschmerzbar. Wer die Möglichkeit hat den Koss Porta Pro an einem Kopfhörerverstärker zu hören SOLLTE das tun, wer die Möglichkeit nicht hat wird trotzdem mE auf KEINEN Fall enttäuscht (und das bei Gott nicht nur wegen dem Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis)
