Ultimate Lightning McQueen by Sphero

The media could not be loaded.  Brought this when it first came out a few years ago. Fantastic little toy, with little to no issues because it's been in storage. However, when I recently got it out to update any firmware the car wouldn't turn on and the app wouldn't find the car. I did some online research and was sad to see that I'm not the only one with is issue. I sideloaded the app because it's no longer available in GP or iOS or Sphero directly. I Had to use a very old phone Android 8.0.0 and now mine works just fine. I haven't tried any android OS above 8.0 because I don't have anything to hand. The controls are still a bit dodgy but the car is very sturdy it accepted the updates and there's plenty to do within the app. I will be selling mine soon and I hope this review helps

Brilliant product my 5 year old loves it! Excellent customer service as well when I had to return one I received all information to do this promptly and was kept informed the whole time.

The company decided to discontinue support and hence the car, even if brand new cannot be used because of a unilateral decision. Did anybody see an (expensive) game with an expiry date? So short? Even worst, if there was one should not be declared? Who would buy a product with a lifespan of 2-3 years?

Never worked unfortunately. It got as far as updating the firmware and then froze indefinitely and never reconnected via the app. Disappointed as it felt like a really well made car but with the app and connectivity issues there feels like a lot that can go wrong so sent back for a refund

Upon first impressions this is a great product and really worth the amount it is going for, don't let that put you off.The retail packaging this product arrives in looks professional and gives the impression of a high quality design product inside.Upon removing the lid of the box, you are presented with Lightning McQueen who is held to the base of the box with covers over the wheels, just like you see when a car is on a flat bed. There is a drawer at the end of the box that when you pull this out, you have access to the charger which comes with multiple adapters so can be plugged into any socket where ever you are.The product is quite easy to setup, the booklet advises you to charge for 30 minutes and to charge this, you plug the cable into where the petrol cap which i think is a good design. Once Lightning in plugged in charging, it comes to lifeThe app it advises you to download is free and very easy to find on the app store. Once this was downloaded, you open the app and then it is just a simple button press to connect your phone to Lightning. This connected in about 5 seconds, it gives you a quick tutorial and then you are ready to go.Now on to the fun part.!!Due to all the sensors on Lightning, he notices when you lift him up off the ground and reacts to that. I love the way they have made it so the mouth moves in time with when he speaks and the way his wheels move as he talks just like in the movies.Driving it around did take me about 5 minutes to get used to the controls but after that i was a master at driving fast and doing doughnuts. On the app there are 3 buttons on the right of the joystick - reverse, doughnut mode and boost mode.Of course me being a driving fanatic, first mode i tried was the doughnut mode. You hold this in and move Lightning in the direction you want him to go and he performs doughnuts.Boost mode is pretty cool too, just gives him the extra speed as of course, his name is "Lightning".The in app games are pretty good too and he even reacts and realises what game you are playing.In my opinion, this is a great product and is definitely worth the money due to what has gone into this.This would be a great Christmas present for the kids (or adults) or for anyone that just loves Disney and Cars and remote control cars.This is highly recommended - GO AND BUY IT!!

Cadeau de Geek par excellence, cela reste un beau jouet luxueux, livré dans un bel emballage épuré à l'impression de qualité.Le mode voiture télécommandée est parfait même avec un écran tactile.L'animation des yeux est bluffante, le son est particulièrement audible, net et puissant.En un mot, impressionnant.Jolie démonstration technique mais cela reste un jouet un peu trop cher à confier à nos chères têtes blondes ou pas.N.B: La fameuse phase de changement de langue est une horreur, savoir rester patient, le logiciel va réclamer une mise en charge du véhicule alors qu'il est déjà branché, ignorer, les identifiants du wifi local de la voiture apparaissent pour connecter votre téléphone ou tablette au réseau adhoc. Décocher temporairement la reconnection automatique au réseau wifi, le temps de se connecter au véhicule qui poursuit sa mise à jour du firmware; puis la réactiver car le logiciel réclamera à nouveau l'accès à internet pour terminer.

Amazing toy! Highly recommended to boys entertainment. Car is fast, it speaks and has lights on. Very interactive and for long time brings fun to kids.

È un giocattolo eccezionale! Di lui mi è piaciuto tutto: la grafica, le sue movenze ed espressioni, l’uso della app e di tutte le funzioni che possiede.Una sola pecca è la presa americana, che però si può acquistare facilmente, a parte, sempre su Amazon.Non ho capito che tipo d’interiezione dovrebbe avere Saetta mentre si guardano i film di “Cars”, dato che con me muoveva per un po’ gli occhi e poi mi si è pure addormentato in braccio. Sì, è bello sentirlo che mentre ce l’hai in braccio muova le ruote, ma non è che interagisce col film, anzi, sembra di avere un giocattolo “normale” che ti fa compagnia mentre guardi un film, non che interagisca con esso e questo, per me, è stato un po’ deludente. Ma pazienza, Saetta è fantastico per tantissime altre cose e a me piace un sacco!!!!

Excelente producto de Sphero. Es una replica idéntica al Rayo McQueen de los dibujos, tiene boca que esta sincronizada con lo que habla en Castellano, los ojos de la pantalla están muy bien y lo hacen muy real. Tiene detectores en los laterales, capo y parte de arriba del coche que hacen que te diga cosas si lo tocas ahí. Si te chocas al conducirlo también te habla porque detecta el golpe. Las luces traseras siempre están encendidas y como tiene detector de iluminación, se encienden las luces delanteras si se para por una zona muy poco iluminada.Muy curioso el detalle que le han puesto la conexión del cargador en la boquilla de la gasolina, y si se te queda corto de batería te avisa Rayo avisándote que necesita Gasofa.Yo compre de oferta el coche que vendía y enviaba directamente Amazon desde sus almacenes en España, y a mi si me venia la clavija para enchufar a la red el cargador, de echo venían tres acopladores mas para otros países.
