Great quality percussion
These eggs are superb quality. Although made of two halves, the plastic is thick enough and the join solid enough that I have no fear of them splitting, and I suspect they could take quite a lot of rough treatment. The medium, loud and very loud eggs are quite similar in the sound they make, just more harsh towards the very loud end. The soft shaker is completely different - probably filled with sand instead of what sounds like grit in the others. It makes a wonderful shhhhh sound that is very easy to control - my favourite by far, although maybe too quiet for playing with too many other instruments; it would be perfect for home/studio recording where you can control the levels. These eggs are great to have at jam sessions where there are people who don't play and instrument - anyone can grab one of these and join in.

Good quality and price
I use these for EYFS teaching and the kids love them. They start asking for them as soon as they see the bag I carry them in. The different shot sizes allow us to compare their different sounds which is a nice additional element to the games we play with them. They're robust and cheaper per unit than buying them as individual units.

Here is the best piece of review you'll ever get
Here is the best piece of review you'll ever get: These shakers have been thrown all over the hall by kids who thought these are meant for throwing (I mean, what else would an egg-shaped shaker be for!)... they have been thrown 2 meters up in the air and let fall on the floor, as if they needed to pass some sort of quality test... well, they passed! the shakers are intact!! not a scratch... I was surprised cause I've had egg shakers before that split open with just looking at them... so look no more for the best quality shakers in the world. Sound quality? I am overwhelmed... you get four different grains from a soft, jazz-like fine grain to a rich and heavy salsa type and two in between... all labeled and colour coded. they are grippy and, as tested exhaustively, strong

Well designed, great tone, but not "four sounds".....
I am giving these egg shakers a generous 4 because they are nice quality and make a pleasing sound. However, I have deducted a point because of 2 things: they are very boring colours (instead of grey, black and white to accompany the red egg, I would find yellow, blue and green more visually appealing); and rather than the stated "four sounds" there are really only 2 variations in tone: soft and loud. It would need a more finely-tuned ear than mine to detect the barely-noticeable difference in volume or 'sharpness' between the so-called 'medium', 'loud' and 'extra loud' eggs. It would be better if the eggs were filled with totally different rattly things, eg sand, rice, lead shot, bells, beans etc, which would make noticeably different sounds. However as I said, the sounds they make are very pleasing to the ear, hard to better and would nicely accompany any band. The eggs are also well designed so that all you have to do is flap your arms up and down with an egg in each hand and you get a great rhythm going.

Great little shakers
I've been meaning to get some shakers for a while (I've been using a single maraca, which looks a bit daft on stage!). These are just great -- I can shake them with a closed hand and they make a fantastic sound, and are very light and comfortable. Only thing is that I can't tell the difference between the 'loud' and 'very loud' ones, but I find that to be an advantage as I can use them interchangeably.

Great value
Bought these not really knowing how good they actually are for the money. I do now and they are great value and just the right size to hold.

A must have for every home recording buff!
These are great little tools for impromptu jams or recording sessions. I love the different loudness grading, which lends real flexibility when playing with different rhythmic patterns. You can layer them to build rhythmically complex backing tracks. Although they're priced like toys, these are well-made, good quality percussion instruments, comfortable to hold and playable by anyone with no musical ear or training. Even your most cloth-eared drinking buddy could hold his own in a pub jam with one of these!

Shake your sillies out
These little eggs were such a pleasant surprise. For the price you get four differently sounding shakers that are versatile enough for most ensemble needs. I use them for recording but my 10month old loves them to bits so they’ve doubled up as a baby toy. Why not? Well-built and so far indestructible as my little one has proven. For the price, you can’t go wrong.
