Deathstalker [1984] [DVD]

I didn't get a chance to watch the movie,the DVD was faulty, it would not play properly in the machine, then it stalled completely.It was a low price, so it's not worth returning.

I bought this film about a week after buying and being dissapointed by the Warrior & the Sorceress. Deathstalker however did not dissapoint!In Deathstalkers world the men rule. If a man 'wants' a women he'll simply walk up to her and take her, unless she is with another man, in which case he'll first fight (and possibly kill) the other man and then take the women.This is a great piece of entertainment for a small price, the fight scenes arn't bad, the storyline is a bit iffy, and the female casting is very nice - with ladies wearing very little and with the sort of bodies Tinto Brass would appreciate.Overall I give the film 4stars, but add the 5th as it is very good value.

this film is so bad its gone all the way round to classic,any fan of d+d will love the style and story better than most d+d type of films.

Don't know why but I love most of the fantasy films, and books. The Deathstalker stories aren't as good as the Conan ones, nor is the acting as good in the films but I enjoy them anyway.

Another sword and sorcery epic with some pretty wooden acting. Rick Hill is as wooden as a pine forest. Lana Clarkson turns up and plays a very feisty female warrior but is bumped off three quarters through the film without doing very much which is a shame as she is about the best thing about the film. There is plenty of gladitorial type scenes and the film is not short of action, but you would like to think as there were more films made with the Deathstalker title in them they would hopefully be a lot better than this.

Only just survives as a 3 star review. I didn't hate it, but I hated the quality. The DVD stuttered and jumped for the first 15 minutes. The worst quality DVD I have ever purchased. Even taking it out and cleaning the disc only stopped half the problems at the beginning. The editing is pretty bad, it seems as though whole scenes are missing because of the way it lurches from one scene to another during the course of the film. Its basically what you want though for a beer and brainless viewing of warriors fighting and women getting naked. Apparantly there is a sequel. Don't let the cover artwork fool you as to content, especially if it's the hand painted, fantasy cover, 'cos that ain't in the film!
