Behringer FX600 Digital Multi-Effects Pedal

Excellent behringer product as we love and expect. it truly is a stereo multi effects pedal so it would be churlish to knock it. What I didnt fully appreciate when I started looking at upgrading my gear is that not only it is essential to upgrade your amp and power system (as expected) but you also need to multiplex your input channels to get something truly stereo because pedals like this are subtle and can never manufacture a stereo field from nothing. What This means it is essential to split your channels and then mix them in a dedicated multiplexing layer. A couple of behringer MX400’s provide ability to mix and are cheap and cheerful though you will also need some ABY splitters as well.

Product is great value for money, especially for occasional and at home players. It is made of plastic so this would not withstand the rigours of the professional or pub giggest etc. sound quality is OK, but you do get some noticeable ‘hum’ at loud volumes, again to be expected for the price. The biggest gripe is how you power it. It can be run off batteries, but these are a fiddle to fit (need to take the pedal off the base, and replace carefully to avoid cracking the plastic). Annoyingly though, thee is no on/off switch - if you power it from batteries, you need to remove the in and out signal cables from it, even with your amp and guitar off, otherwise it drains the batteries. That is a bit annoying and messy. There is a port for a 9v adaptor, but it would be helpful if at least the adaptor plug came with it, as I haven’t been able to find one the right diameter to fit the hole, and so am stuck with battery power. But overall, if you are looking for a cheap pedal to have some fun at home, you probably can’t go wrong with this one.

Cheap and easy way to evaluate a variety of modulation effects. I found a couple of the selections to be to my taste and then bought a couple of other dedicated effects, but the pedal itself does have some nice settings that are perfectly usable, although a couple of the effects are a bit cheap and the pedal does not really allow for full control over them - in part this may be because I am primarily an acoustic guitar player and some effects just don’t cut through like they would on electric. Anyhoo, it works and I happily use it for the good sounds that you can find on it. It’s made of plastic but seems solid enough - I’ve never liked the battery replacement routine with these pedals and it’s safe to say you should use a power supply when you can. On the other side though, I’ve owned a couple of Behringer pedals over the years and they were surprisingly robust even when used for gigs and practices.

What you actually get with this pedal is a choice of individual effects. You'll spend a few minutes cursing the fact that you can't combine them before you realise you wouldn't want to anyway: all the effects are delay/modulation-based (there's no disortion or anything envelope-based) so even if you could they'd only get in each other's way. This is why people who insist on owning a phaser AND a flanger AND a chorus pedal AND everything else and then switch them all on at once end up with such a terrible sound. Having established that, the mix level and two parameter controls (they have different functions depending on your chosen effect) give you a wide range of variations - too wide, in some cases, presumably because the slope settings on the controls are the same for each effect. This is why extreme or sloppy control settings introduce noise and/or give you a cheesy sound - just use your ears, your good taste and a bit of common sense. One slightly disconcerting thing is that the effects selection is all firmware-based - the knob on the right isn't a rotary switch, it's another pot, which just glides smoothly from one effect to the other. The upside of this, of course, is that it'll last longer and there's no way at all you'll get an audible click when you switch effects - just make sure you can see what you're doing under stage lighting. You won't get true bypass at this price, but if you just use it in mono (yes, you get two ins and two outs) you can afford an A/B box as well. In short, this is actually a lot of alternative pedals inside one stomp box, so even if you just want to explore what different kinds of effects do to your sound, this unit is hard to beat. As someone else says here, though, do buy a PSU for it - it's a total battery hog.

Nice effects that can work well with the Ultra Metal as well as on their own. I love the phaser especially. I use an adaptor to save on batteries. Really adds something despite inexpensiveness.

Arrived nicely packaged & in its own box. Disappointed after fitting battery, it worked for five minutes then light flashing no sound. Tried second new battery, same result. Before sending it back I tried it on a 9v mains adaptor Bingo! it works a treat! It would appear that one would have to fit a very high quality battery as the 125 milliamp. current needed is causing too much voltage drop with some of the cheapy batteries out there. Otherwise, am pleased with the sound and quality (though its plastic its sturdy enough for home practice use) . Overall, for the price paid good value.

Trae bastantes efectos de modulación. Aunque no son los mejores, si puede servir para reducir el espacio de otros pedales o para iniciarte en el mundo de los efectos de modulación. Me gustó mucho el trémolo, el delay y el octavador (pitch shifter). El chorus, el flanger y el phaser no me parecieron tan buenos pero definitivamente son aceptables. A este precio es difícil conseguir un pedal tan versátil y tan bueno

This is a great multi-pedal! It does what it's suppose to do and delivers some great sounds and cool effects! It's well built and very sturdy. It saves me from having to purchase multi pedals!
