The Simpsons Movie [DVD] [2007]

the movie based on long running cartoon the simpsons comes to dvd. running for eighty minutes, this feels like a very long episode. the plot involves homer trying to save the town after having doomed it to destruction. the pace is fast enough such that there's always another funny moment coming along, and pretty much all the characters get to make an appearance. the focus is primarily on the simpsons themselves so the supporting characters don't get too much of a look in. Maybe it's not the greatest movie ever made, but it's still funny enough to warrant five stars from me.The dvd isn't the big package of extras you might have expected.The extras come in four sections. a main section offers two commentaries, one from the writers, producers and some of the actors, and another from the animators. this menu will also let you access the following three sections:deleted scenes, featuring six scenes that didn't make the final cut of the movie. they're all quite funny.special stuff. four short films that may not mean much to british viewers, as they centre round a few american things. one has homer as guest host on an american chat show. one has him hosting the american version of pop idol. one has him as a judge on this, judging simon cowell's singing [very funny scene!] and one has him in a parody of an advert for food that used to be played a lot in american cinemas.the trailers section offers five different trailers for the movie that ran over the past year and a bit in cinemas.Watching this on a PC and moving the pointer over the top wording in each of these sections activated an easter egg for each, each showing production drawings for one of the characters. and if you go the set up menu, accessed via the main menu, click on the left side to bring up a spoof trailer for TDK sound. Doubtless moving the controls round on a dvd player may bring these up if you can't see them on a computer.Not the best package for the movie, but a fun enough film for this to warrant five stars

Great dvd

Watched this with my grandson because it's his new favourite. Paid to hire the movie and found it for free afterwards on a free streaming network.

Whether you're a big fan or small, you will already know about the movie, so this review concentrates on the extras, which, if I have to be honest, are not as generous or as brilliant as I would expect from the team.This mirrors the film itself in some ways. The film only lasts eighty-three minutes, and ten of them are taken up with the closing credits. This makes one wonder why there even exist deleted scenes. Yet one of the extras consists of six such scenes, all of which should have or could have been in the movie. The best deleted scene is `Levels', which on its own had me in stitches.There are two commentaries, one by the animators, and the other by the director, the producer, and some of the writers. Because there are so many in the room at one time, contributors constantly interrupt each other, telling themselves and the rest of the team how funny is a particular scene.So, all in all, the commentaries are a bit of a waste, although in the latter they are able to freeze the on-screen action a few times to elaborate on a particular subject. And we also learn a few nuggets of pub-quiz information, such as the one line contributed by Edward Norton, or the split-second appearance of a `Lord of the Rings' character.Then there's the section called `Special Stuff', which comprises four short and not very funny scenes of various members of the family on various American TV shows. Finally, there are the trailers. Normally I don't bother with these on a DVD, but on this occasion they are worth a watch for obvious reasons.But after watching all of these extras I did ask myself `Is that It?' No `Making of' featurette, no in-depth interviews with any of the animators or actors, and no interviews with the family at the premiere? Maybe Homer was too drunk for the latter.Nevertheless, all this grumbling is not to deny that the movie is both a work of art and (almost) a work of writing genius and is fully recommended.

Great, great movie!When it was announced, I was worried it would ruin the legendary cartoon series that is The Simpsons, so decided not to watch. Until now, It hasn't disappointed me at all. Hilarious scenes from Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie.It seemed like all of Springfield made at least one appearance, as well as some new, non-cannon characters such as a love interest named Colin, for Lisa.The storyline is solid, unpredictable and the way it has been left was genius. Any more, or any less would have put me off. So glad there is no sequel, although it is hinted at the end.Very pleased!

This is my first UMD movie watched in PSP. The quality is remarkable and can also be played in very good quality on digital TV screen. UMD quality is much better than that obtained through copying a movie (legal) from DVD by means of different software present on market. The only weak point is that they didn't add the subtitles option (present on many UMD movies). For people with impaired hearing this is very important feature, even in their native languageStanislaw

Wie viele Jahre mussten die Simpsons Fans auf den ersten Kinofilm unserer gelben Lieblings Familie warten. 2007 war es nun soweit. Und Matt Groening und sein Team sind ein großes Wagnis mit dem Film eingegangen. Die neuen Folgen der Serie, so ab der 11. Staffel, sind ja immer wieder mehr oder weniger großer Kritik ausgesetzt. Nach 18 Jahren kann man schon mal das Gefühl haben so gut wie jede Geschichte schon mal gesehen zu haben. Und dennoch ist es den Machern der Simpsons gelungen eine wirklich gute und überzeugende Geschichte mit vielen vielen bekannten Elementen und Figuren auf die Leinwand zu bringen. Regie führte David Silverman.Nach dem die Band Green Day nach einem Konzert auf dem Lake Springfield umgekommen ist, trifft sich ganz Springfield zu einem Trauergottesdienst in der Kirche. Dort hat Grandpa Simpsons eine Vision einer großen Katastrophe die Springfield heimsuchen wird. Doch Marge macht sich als einzigste große Sorgen und schon nach kurzer Zeit scheinen sich diese zu bestätigen. Die Zeichen ...Wie schon erwähnt war das Risiko, das die Macher rund um Matt Groening, eingingen sehr groß. Man male sich nur mal aus der Film wäre gefloppt. Es ist fraglich ob auch heute noch neue Folgen der Simpsons laufen würden.Das das Risiko wurde belohnt. Und das zurecht. Man erfand zwar die Serie nicht neu, doch brachte man einen Film mit einer überzeugenden und spannenden Geschichte auf die Leinwand. Mit vielen bekannten Gesichtern aus Springfild sowie auch einzelnen neuen Figuren und auch zwei bekannten Darstellern aus Hollywood, Tom Hanks und Arnie Schwarzenegger.Die Extras auf der DVD können sich auch sehen lassen. Man bekommt, AUDIOKOMMENTAR, REGIE KOMMENTAR, 7 ENTFALLENE SZENEN, BONUSZEUGS: HOMERS MONOLOG BEI "THE TONIGHT SHOW", DIE SIMPSONS ALS JUROREN BEI "AMERICAN IDOL", HOMER ALS ANSAGER BEI "AMERICAN IDOL", LASST UNS IN DIE LOBBY GEH'N und HAUFENWEISE TRAILER.Ich muss zugeben das ich froh bin das der erste Kinofilm der Simpsons ein Erfolg wurde. Und so kommen wir hoffentlich in den Genuss auf einen zweiten Simpsons Kinofilm.

Apparently this was the first item I ever purchased on Amazon, back in 2013. Time flies etc etc. And since I actually still own it I might as well write a review - it's good! It's The Simpsons Movie, surprisingly solid especially for 2007-era Simpsons, Homer is written to be too much of a jerk in my opinion but I think the movie overall holds up very well. Feels like a great finale for the series in a way, though I know that the newer seasons have some great moments and I don't want to discount them. I don't keep up with the series anymore, but I've seen a few really solid episodes from the last few seasons. There was a memorable 2-part Fargo homage starring Ned Flanders, for example. Oh, and the Death Note Halloween segment - good stuff!Obviously in terms of video quality you're better off buying this on Blu Ray, or 4K UHD (is the movie available in that format? I didn't check) or even just watching it on Disney+. But I will always have nostalgia for this relatively lower-quality viewing experience, since the first time I watched the movie was uh, let's just say, I "found it somewhere" on the internet back in 2007, and it was not the optimal viewing experience. Objectively speaking, you probably shouldn't actually buy this, find a better alternative. But I'm giving it 5 stars anyway, because of the nostalgia.

Film hat nur eine Tonspur und die ist auf englisch, obwohl die Hülle auf deutsch ist.Update: 18.09.2024Jetzt im 3. BluRay Player konnte ich ein Untermenü aufrufen und die Sprache auf Deutsch stellen.Die anderen beiden Player waren scheinbar nicht aktuell genug.

シンプソンズはアメリカのくだらなくて、笑いどころが満載の面白いアニメです。日本のテレビでもすれば良いのにと思いますが、教育上無理なのでしょう。
