How To Play The Pocket Harmonica. : Various: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Useful. - Useful wee book. Review: A Great Starter Guide for Aspiring Harmonica Players - Peter Pickow's How to Play the Pocket Harmonica is an excellent resource for beginners who are eager to pick up this charming little instrument. The book is well-structured, straightforward, and easy to follow, making it perfect for those with no prior musical experience. Pickow covers all the basics, from understanding the layout of the harmonica to playing simple melodies. The step-by-step instructions are clear, and the accompanying diagrams are particularly helpful for visual learners. I appreciated how the book doesn’t overwhelm with too much theory but instead focuses on practical techniques to get you playing quickly. One standout feature is the collection of simple songs included in the book. Practicing these pieces is both fun and motivating, as you can hear your progress almost immediately. The tips on breath control and bending notes were particularly useful as I started developing my skills. While it’s a fantastic introduction, more advanced players may find it too basic. However, for complete novices or casual players, this book hits the mark perfectly. Pair it with a good-quality harmonica, and you’re all set to explore this versatile instrument. Highly recommended for anyone looking to dive into harmonica playing

How To Play Pocket Harmonica - Great Value Book
This book is great to get you started and includes all the basics. I bought my first harmonica and suprisingly (for a well known brand) it did not come with any instructions, however this book made things a lot clearer and within minutes allowed me to start playing the instrument with much more purpose. It is few years old (it qoutes instrument prices which are a bit out of date) and is a somewhat awkward shape (long and narrow) - but this does not detract from the contents - which is perfect for a beginner.

Quick, cheap, and a nice guide to beginning Harmonica
A clear, concise, if a little dated, introduction to the harp, where basic tunes and chords are taught simply with little confusion, and not dauntingly either. The book's tone and style is clear and informative, and is an ideal gift for those beginning or just starting the harp. Not for advanced players however, not unless you want a very brief guide to changing your harp style.

Good
As an absolute beginner to harmonica this was a good place to start. It is a little old for example the list of suggested harmonicas have a rough price next to them in $ and I really wish they were those prices nowadays! Oh also it only suggests Hohner harmonicas. Anyway this is clear and simple to follow with pictures and simple explanations however I found the music presented on the treble cleft further on in the book a little daunting until you realise the harmonica tab is underneath (it does teach you about the notation, but I was flicking through). I really like the chart on the back where it shows you what notes are what on a C harmonica (which is the recommended key for beginners). All in all a decent purchase for a reasonable price however I'm thinking of getting something a little more detailed.

Excelent book for the beginner
I have recently taken to the harmonica and this is an excellent and very affordable book explaining the basics and getting you started on simple tunes through to quite advanced rhythms and riffs. I learned a fair bit not only on how to play the harp but also the why and the ways - Blues, Country, Rock etc. Only draw back was thought the book does not exactly fit in the pocket - way to long, so unkike the harmonica it is used only at home.

Útil como manual de bolsillo para aprender, aunque un plus sería que tuviera más canciones para poder perfeccionar estilo, rapidez etc
