How loud does it get when the power is out? And what's the nature of the noise - does it squawk, honk, beep, screech?

Hi there! I have mine since this January. I just tried it for you on 100% CPU load (about 230W power usage). First, it has an alarm sound to alert you that the power is out which is a loud beep, much like an alarm clock. This can be disabled/mute in the settings and a dedicated button. The UPS itself didn't give any special noise at least nothing louder than my PCs fans next to it. It still gives you a beep once in a while to remind you that your PC runs on the battery and you may only have a few minutes to finish/save your work. I am so far satisfied with the product.

How much heat is generated by the unit?

Hard to say as mine is on the floor next to my tower PC but I would say very little. I think my PC gives off more heat.

As previously stated, the answer is yes. I have two small Dell servers attached and the panel + software are telling me that at the current current (?) draw the will run for a little over 50 minutes, but I would not bank on more than 30. If you think about what might occur, you need to protect for short glitch type outages, then there is the outage caused by a fuse or breaker blow/trip, maybe 15 minutes? Then if there are major outages you want the ups to tell your kit to close down after say 20 minutes. The big outages can last hours and for those you need a small generator, but if the local power is ou then some of the things that you connect externally ma also be down. I quite like this ups and if I follow the above guidance, the only shock will be when I go to replace the battery!?
