Great Little Radio .
Product itself is great and so is the quality. The only disappointments ,for me, are:-The mains socket at the back of the radio is too high up, would be better lower, so you wouldn't see the cable. Unfortunately colour of the cable does not match my item, which makes it more apparent, the cable should be lower down, in my opinion. The carrying handle is too short to be placed over the aerial, if the aerial is upright, which means its on view.If I have got this wrong please ignore my comments.

Rolls Royce of radios!
I was reluctant to review because a few months ago I gave my Majority Shelford 5 stars. Then it started playing up and finally packed up aged just 3 months. Amazons returns are a nightmare if you have no printer to produce a pre paid labels for returning a parcel that are not acceptable to Royal Mail, no mobile phone camera to send in picture details of your postage cost. But I couldn't resist this 50's retro set in Leaf far cheaper than in other colours. I've early Roberts transistor radio's going back to the late fifties still working today Grundig's and Bush's ok after decades. This is the best though beautiful quality, easy to set up, a knob to turn to choose a pre tuned station (far better than pressing a button) small, compact, loud and clear and like another reviewer I like to look admiringly at it. The only minor criticism I wish you could preset the scrolling information text rather than cycle through to find what you want-in my case time and date. A superb radio and if ever I need to I would repeat my purchase..

Lovely looking, great sound. Simple to use.
After a couple of years of hesitating whether to purchase Roberts radio given the price and faux leather longevity issues reported, I finally couldn't resist and bought the smaller version. The look and the sound are both fantastic. I prey that none of the peeling off of the faux leather appears.. It would be such a shame.. Unnecessary also, as I am sure one can use real leather with not too much of a cost difference..? Why would Roberts still make it out of wearing off plastic..?? Surely their customer base already willing to pay serious cash to purchase the faux leather option wouldn't mind splashing out a bit extra to get the real deal..? Either way, pleased and fingers crossed to my beautiful radio..

Great little radio
After looking at a lot of specifications and reviews on different radios I decided to buy this one. I've had a couple of other DAB radios and they were difficult and fiddly to pre-set and recall pre-set, this Roberts one is a dream, you just find station you want to save and press button and its done! Also recalling pre-sets is easy. Personally I don't think you can beat Roberts for style, ease of use and sound quality. The only downside is that you cannot change the treble or bass quality like in some radios but as the sound quality is great anyway this was o k . I know the Roberts is expensive but after having a different radio from somewhere else and having to send it back because it kept cutting out and so could not pre-set it properly, I decided to pay the extra to get good quality and I'm very happy with it. It's true that you pay for what you get.

Compact, attractive, easy to use controls and the option of rechargeable batteries
I have always opted for Pure portable radios because they offer a dedicated re-chargeable battery. However, I really liked the compact design of the Roberts radio, the fact that it had a nicely placed handle and that the controls and display are at a good viewing angle. It also comes in a range of colours. The ariel folds down very neatly. The deciding factor was however, that rechargeable batteries can be used. This is not the dedicated battery sold by Pure, but regular re-chargeables that charge when the radio is connected to the mains. It takes four. There is, of course, the option of using non-rechargeable batteries too, as well as the mains connection. This is a a very simple, highly portable radio with good sound. It is easy to use and favourite stations can be stored. A no-nonsense, attractive product. My only minor gripe is that the battery cover, as usual, can be a fiddle to open.

Cables needed for Apple compatibility.
It is exactly what it is, a Roberts radio of the quality I expect. The issue I have is it is in fact not directly compatible with either my Apple iPod or iPhone 6. I need two more cables to make these compatible which it would have been helpful to know when I ordered it. I am not sure if this is a Roberts problem or an Amazon one but it needs addressing. It was clear I needed to buy batteries if I wanted to use it that way so not that difficult to also say cables are necessary for use with Apple technology.

A beautiful radio, worth the investment!
I wanted a small radio for my bedside table and have always liked the look of the retro radios. It's the perfect size for this and very easy to set up. I would've liked an alarm function but the smaller 'retros' don't have one. The sound quality is excellent and overall I'm really pleased with this radio. I've only had mine a short while so can't comment on the concerns over durability raised in other reviews but it feels sturdy and well made. I took a while to justify the expense of this radio to myself but so glad I did!
