Perfect control to lighting up my garden.I thought i was goung to need two PIR sensors at either end of a passage way, however this was perfect giving a broad 270° detection area from either end of the passage way. So it saved on me needing another PIR and also less hassel to install as only need to wire up this one sensor.Item is well built and solid. Been installed for about two months now and no problems. You get what you pay for and im glad i paid that little bit more.

Expensive but does what it is supposed to do. Been p more than a year with no problem. The expense will be justified if it lasts a few years. Mounting on a wall corner works well in my location

Works well, easy installation but the instructions are poor. Quite unclear which is the live in and which the live out wire. turns out black is live in and brown live out which is rather counter intuitive.

This PIR is very well designed which makes it very easy to install. It is a very solid construction so no worries on handling to attach the blinds or adjust for Lux or Time duration. The adjustments are carried out using dials with good finger grips and not the usual small screwdriver slots. After installation, great disappointment as it did not work and despite checking and re-checking the wiring, the unit appeared completely dead. Removing the unit for return I then started reading the older reviews, which I should have done initially. That revealed/suggested that the wiring colours are not as expected and the Black PIR wire is the UK LIVE MAINS INPUT and the Brown PIR wire is the switched supply to the security lights. Just switching these two wires was all that was needed to get the unit working. The Box contains an external 90 degree corner bracket, all the screws and plugs of very good quality for fitting. The 'blinds' for restricting the covered area are of superb design and ample quantity. Fitting the blinds is an easy process as with minute adjustment if necessary. As the Instruction book is monochrome, it is a good idea the write in the colours of the wires on the wiring instructions for future reference

This unit works well and, despite its wide coverage, is actually slightly more sensitive, and with a greater range, than the normal Steinel PIR's you might otherwise choose (eg model IS140-2). I would choose Steinel every time, they don't go wrong after 5-10 years, which all the other unbranded/branded-but-made-in-China units seem to. The instruction leaflet is not the most clear, but it's the only drawback you will face. Steinel do make a more expensive corner PIR, but this one seems more than good enough.

I would agree with anybody that it is not always true that you get better quality the more you spend! However in this case paying that extra has given me a top quality product and I’m confident as I can be that it will also give me Longevity. Had it wired up to a new lamp in no more then 15 minutes, plenty of room where your joining cables and you could easy fit three separate connections. Very happy with the PIR

Bought to replace old one same make would recommend old one lasted 10 years

Steinel sensors are expensive and this is the second one I’ve bought. It replaces the first one which lasted just over 5 years before it developed a mind of its own and started switching my security light on and off repeatedly annoying my neighbours. I could have replaced it with a much cheaper option but that would have meant changing the special corner bracket it was mounted on and probably changing the wiring etc. I hope this one lasts, I won’t be buying another!
