All tropical fish, not for salt water fish or gold fish...

are the flakes small?

It’s a variety of size because some break up over time in the container. They are like most flakes and I just take a pinch and break them up in my hand before feeding my small fish. I’d say some are small, some large. They are very easy to break up for smaller fish.
