There is a place for each piece in the folded game. Has a simple latch to keep the folded board closed when not in use. It is very attractive wood and the pieces are made of wood as well. It is easy to travel with. Great purchase.

This was a gift for a checkers loving kid and it was such a wonderful surprise! Well made, no scratches or dings, and well played!!

Everything about this set appears to indicate a very high quality game board and pieces, but once we got over the excellent packaging, well finished game board, cushioned interior with snug-fitting cutouts for the checkers and the nicely finished checkers themselves, all of which are fantastic, we unfortunately discovered the dang board won't lay flat because the hinges are attached just a bit off, with the result being each side is very slightly canted up in air along the very middle of what should be a totally flat game board! That isn't right at all... Rats!Daggone it, I'd really prefer to be leaving a great review for this; everything else about the set is so nice, it seems to me that something like attaching the hinges correctly would be a total no-brainer, but who knows, maybe these things are put together by robots or other machinery. However it was done, ours was assembled in such a way that the board won't lay flat. Instead, each side is sort of pulling away from the center line, so it just won't lay flat after opening, which totally wrecks the esthetic appeal of the nicely finished wooden board for us, not to mention causing the smooth-bottomed checkers on either side of the midline to slide 'downhill' and worse at the slightest touch, much less an actual bump! What a shame, because this set otherwise is totally deserving the highest praise and five stars.Based on the small number of reviews I actually read (the overwhelming majority of which are five-star, great reviews), I didn't notice any of the other buyers having the same problem, so maybe it's a one-in-a-million fluke. Whatever the reason, it prevents us from fully enjoying what could and should be an absolutely awesome checkers set. When it comes down to cases, to prevent the sliding checkers (and just make it look right!), I guess I'm going to have to try removing and reattaching the hinges to (hopefully) get the board to lay flat after opening, which I'm not looking forward to at all. I just hope I don't totally wreck the danged thing, but I seriously doubt the board, particularly the interior, where the hinges are located, will end up looking anwhere near as nice as it did on arrival, no matter how well I can manage the repair (granted I actually can repair it). However that turns out, the board we received was defective, so we just can't recommend the otherwise extremely-nice product to prospective buyers.

Shipping was fast but when I opened the box, it looked like damaged: there was a little ding or dent at the open/close button, three scratches and chips in the interior box. Quite a few checker pieces have chipped edges or uneven colors. What am I supposed to do?
