AWESOME trail runners!
Been using On trail runners for years, but totally hate all of their new re-designs that I tried, and started looking for another brand. I do a lot of running in mud/snow/ice and wanted something with a lot of grip/teeth on the bottom and these looked perfect. First run I was AMAZED. I purposely tried a rough trail to test them out, and they totally held their grip every steep icy & snow covered trail I could throw at it, no additional traction was needed at all. With the new On shoes I would have needed micro spikes. Super happy with how they hold up on trails. Was a little worried about the lacing system, but I love that too. Super easy to use and tightens up perfectly. They come on and off like slippers. Very comfortable, and seem to hold up in the cold really well. Was trekking through knee-deep snow with them and had no issues at all. Love these shoes, PLEASE do not change the design hahah.

Salomon for life
This is my second pair of Salomon Speed Cross trail runners. I use them for hiking and not running . First I had the 4 and bought the 6 bc of the wider toe box to protect my toes on the downhill part of the hikes. I’ll seriously never use another hiking shoe bc I love these so much. The tread is awesome, the sole is comfortable even up to 8 miles, and me feet are sissies. I mean. If my feet are happy, it’s a really good shoe! But let me tell you a few things that make the shoe even better. 1-get some hiking socks as well. They feel a bit sloppy wearing a regular old Nike sock if the trail is really steep. 2-I got shorter laces bc after tightening the ones they come with, they’re a mile long. They’re also so thin it’s hard to get your fingers under to loosen them, etc 3-this also makes it so you don’t have to use the lace garage on the shoe. When you’re wearing a size 6 1/2, the laces cross over the garage. So there’s no stuffing the laces in. Maybe that works better if you’re wearing a size 9 shoe. Also, some reviewers have said they fit small. They fit me exactly like they should. I wear a 6.5 in everything, and these as well. And they fit exactly the same way as the 4 did. Other than the wider toe box which is a great addition.

Slick surface running shoe
Salomon running shoes are great quality and these are right up there. I run on a trail everyday. I use Salomon Sense ride 5s almost everyday. These are a better run shoe for slick or muddy running surfaces. Had a thick sole and high tread. They will work well on snow too. The pill string leaves are nice cause you don't have to worry about your laces coming undone while running. They have a slight heel to them which help with support. They fit as expected, I usually run 10+ miles so they're pretty sweat logged when I'm done. They dry out well on the shoe dryer. So far I 270 miles on them and they're holding up great. My sense ride 5s have over 1200 miles on them and are holding up great which speaks for the quality of their shoes. I wouldn't buy these for everyday run use unless you're running on a muddy surface every time you go out. Overall great value for the price.

Good shoe but tight
Hey everyone wears these shoes in the sport I play so I thought I'd give them a try. They are a bit on the smaller size so either get them in wide if you can or half size up.

MY GO-TO SHOE
I’ve owned at least 6 pairs of the various versions of the Spedcross shoe over the years. The latest (Speedcross 6) has proven to be the best with a slightly more durable rubber formulation used in the outsole. The fit is reliably comfortable and Salomon has myriad colour offerings drab to bright to match any taste. These are awesome shoes!

Please keep making these.
I love these shoes. I’ve bought three pairs now. From street wear to trail runs this does it all. My girl thinks they are ugly but I like their stylish black look and the performance cannot be matched. Traction on slick rocks, mud, and pavement sticks like glue. The soft soles do wear quickly if used for street wear. But with my added insoles the comfort and fit is the best I’ve ever had, while the goretex keeps my socks and feet dry in the quickly changing weather conditions of Appalachia.

fantastic grip on sloped trails
I bought these shoes knowing that grippy soft rubber sole material does not last long... especially if worn on asphalt or concrete. But their grip is noteworthy, and they are much lighter than most ankle-high hiking boots. I bought them intending to restrict their use on trails only... which is what I did. I held off reviewing these shoes until I'd worn them a while. I'll be retiring them soon, and intend to replace them with a pair of Speedcross 6 GTX. They've served me well these past 10 months. I generally hike 5 to 12 miles in them each time, and have put roughly 1000 miles on them. The trails I hiked (and cleared) in them were mostly dirt trails that weren't too rocky, but were occasionally as steep as 60 degrees. I always switched to durable-soled street-running shoes immediately upon leaving grassy or wooded trail areas. I could climb and descend like a mountain goat in them. That's the most notable feature I love about them. Trails that presented no trouble for me while wearing these shoes were really dangerous while wearing durable-soled shoes designed for street-running. The soft, grippy rubber traction difference is incredible. These quickly became my "go to" hikers when clearing trails. Nice to not be slipping while sawing or limbing downed trees on steep slopes. I was surprised to discover that I'd neglected to buy the Gortex version, because my feet stayed dry in these while hiking in wet grass. I intend to buy the GTX version next time, but my feet actually stayed fairly dry in these. I never crossed streams in them, but they worked fine in wet grass. I weigh 140 pounds. If you weigh a lot more than that, if you wear them while walking on asphalt or cement sidewalks, if you walk on rough trails with a lot of talus, scree, or sharp rocks, or if you walk a lot more than 12 miles per day in them - the soles may not last as well for you. They aren't intended to be durable. The rubber on these soles is designed to assist you in sticking to slopes. Not icy slopes (you'd need to add spikes) or slick mossy slopes. But most trail slopes. Soft sticky rubber isn't as durable as the rubber designed for street-running. As long as you understand that on the front end, you won't be disappointed when these don't last nearly as long as your usual street-running shoes. Hope this helps. One additional note: if you need proprioceptive feedback while running steep slopes or knells, Inov-8 trail running shoes are better for that. These Speedcross 6 shoes are more padded and comfortable, but I can't feel the ground underneath my feet nearly as well while wearing them. If you absolutely need to know where your feet are on the ground, switch to Inov-8s (Mudclaws or similar). If you want a more comfortable workday experience while clearing trails, switch back into the Speedcross 6s as soon as you safely can.

Passt
