Recommended.
Rapid delivery. I'm an absolute beginner in Hungarian so I found the language very difficult, it bears no resemblance to any other European language. Having said that, you have to persevere & keep on hammering at it until it sinks in, listen to the conversation examples over & over & follow them in the book. Hard but enjoyable work. Recommended.

Not perfect, but good for this price :)
I've bought it for my boyfriend, and he's actually using it a lot, and he really enjoys repeating the different phrases. It makes it a lot easier for me too to explain him stuff, so it's definitely useful. However, I don't know if this book would be helpful for someone, who wants to learn on his own.Anyway, there is one big problem that I found in this book that really annoys me: when the author writes the word "something" or "someone", etc. into the book, she is not using the full form of the same word in Hungarian. She doesn't write "valami" or "valaki", she's using the shortened version, which is "vmi" or "vki".Well... This is a language book for beginners. People, who have no idea about this language. When they try to read something, they will pronounce it as they see it, they will not know if that is a shortened version or not. And it makes my job quite difficult to explain to my boyfriend that the pronunciation of the word "something" is not "vmi", it's "valami". I am a bit concerned that he will learn it wrong, because of this hint of laziness.

Slow and steady
I would definitely recommend this as it takes you slowly and carefully through all the basics. At first, Hungarian seems a difficult language, but there is a logic there and Zsuzsa's book is ideal as long as you persevere. Stick with this book and audio CD and you will be delighted, I promise.

Meine Tochter ist sehr begeistert von dem Buch und lernt schon fleißig - obwohl sie schon Englisch (klar!) und Spanisch hat. 😄Für meinen Mann und mich habe ich ein anderes Ungarisch-Buch mit deutschen Erklärungen bevorzugt. 😉

It's advanced for me but very helpful.
I am Hungarian and found this would be difficult for non hungarian speakers. It is fairly advanced for beginners but I like it along with the accompanying downloadable audio.

Very good for super beginner levels
Im just reading over a section at a time and love how well this book is organized and guides you by making you think for yourself. When you work through it it feels And reads like having a personal tutor.
