I bought and have used Premiere Pro since 2012, but when Adobe moved onto the subscription model, that wasn't going to work for me. So I continued with this version with no updates.It has been great until the last few years where new formats and codecs have come about that my old Premiere no longer recognizes.So I had to move on, I decided to try Davinci Resolve as everyone was talking about it and it's free, so I downloaded it but found it hard to figure out on my own, UI was completely different to my Premiere.So I bought this book in the hope that it will get me up and running and on the basis of this book, I completed two video editing projects in the first week after buying this book, after weeks of struggling with Resolve beforehand.Very happy with it!

Lesson files did not work so returned the book. Also, the images in the book are very poor quality and you are given a link to download them separately. Pleased I returned it.

I had previous experience with video editing software, so I picked up quickly, but if you don't have and want to get into the video editing business fast, this is the only book you need.The first part is enough to post your videos on any sharing platform. And only takes a few days or even hours to get through it.When I started to read, I felt I had some special in my hand. The author started with a fantastic step: simplifying the application surface, removing everything we don't need, and focusing only on the program's relevant parts without any disturbance. (Brilliant! I am biased since that, sorry.)As we go through the book, we discover more and more parts of the DaVinci Resolve 18 only when we are ready. (No overwhelming.)(Personally, I don't, but) If you like it, you can test your knowledge with questions at the end of every chapter. It can be helpful for many.Some more things to mention:* Provides the project files to learn.* Give plenty of resources at the end of every chapter in bulk (and not in the text everywhere - another bonus point).* Teaches the fundamentals of sounds and recording.* Last but not least: Highlights the difference between new and older versions. That means you can use the book with older versions of the software.And those are just the tip of the iceberg.If you're reading this review, you're reinterested in video editing. You don't need to look further; buy this book and save money and time for yourself.

This guide was hands-down, first-class and top notch work from Lance Philips! It was very easy to read and to follow. He covers all necessary basics to give the reader a chance at a head start with what could have been a pretty complex program to work with. I now feel this guide facilitated me with more feasible access to an industry-renowned program. For those who want to go step further with the studio-version, he gladly shares that knowledge as well. So, altogether, definitely recommend this book!
