Expensive but it's worth every penny
Just like every one of you considering the purchase, I bulked on buying it. I bought this on Black Friday and I haven't regretted ever buying it. Apple knew what they were doing when they built this screen. It's sharp, beautiful and just works. This display is brilliant. Yes, it's expensive and if you don't budget for it, you can't just buy it. However, if you have the money for it, buy it. It's worth it every time.

At the end of the day...I went with this... SO WORTH IT! Once again, mac prevails!
I tried for days and days to find the biggest and best non-Apple alternative.... at the end of the day, I didn't want to deal with mismatching cable issues, pixel quality, speed issues, and compatibility issues. The rest of my home is Apple. At the end of the day... no matter how you slice it... Apple is best for Apple, and the quality is superior. Longevity, design, and reliability. It just is what it is. I opted for this over a larger alternative display, and I am not upset about it whatsoever. I am a graphic designer using a 2018 15.4" Macbook Pro, iMac, Ipad Pro, Magic Keyboard and mouse. I was tired of being told... "well you need to make sure the monitor... has this cable, bc this cable may not work well and this cable only does image and will slow eveerything. Also, something to be noted that I wish I had been told before the first few days of research...I FOUND USING A TV WOULD NOT DO for my objective and daily needs. Going for this option was the utimate decision and I am so happy with it... Comparable money for a little less screen...Time and time again is worth it for choosing apple over others.

VESA mount version is good!
Very good display. It integrated with my MacBook really well. I like the VESA mount version since I found the stock monitor stand is not well-designed. I just paired it with the Ergotron LX Monitor Arm, which works much nicer than the stock stand.

Apple left well enough alone: A 27-inch "not-in-one" 5K iMac.
While still expensive, even on Black Friday, it's nice to have a display that feels like the one on my retired, late-2014, 5K iMac. While I, like so many, wish this included a panel imbued with more recent display tech, I'm not sure what tech might satisfy shareholder-preferred profit margins without radically increasing the retail price. Maybe Apple will keep this in the lineup and introduce something priced in-between this display and its eye-watering XDR display. If Apple updates this display in spring 2025 at the same retail price, I will be a little bummed, but have made my peace with that possibility. As for everything else, I appreciate the machined aluminum housing and considerately, capable speakers. Those features alone may be worth the premium over something like ASUS's new (late 2024) 5K display, which may simply be the old LG wrapped in a housing that includes more flexible connectivity options. After the ROG Ally experience I can't really trust Asus, anyway and apart from the iPhone 6s battery nonsense, in which Apple did give me a new phone, I have yet to have a bad experience with Apple. The 4K LG 27UL850 I was using was fine, but I really missed Apple scaling as it was on the late-2014 5K iMac. If Apple had been environmentally responsible and added target display mode on the 27" 5K iMacs, I'd probably just use that until it died. Alas, that's not Apple's way today. I chose the VESA version (which is robust, if a bit of an wacky kludge) because its the only way to logically avoid Apple's ridiculous stand "options." Apple had the opportunity to be logical and provide us with an iconic, one-for-all stand/arm, perhaps even one that rivaled the G4 iMac display arm, but they chose limiting differentiation. Anyway, the pros outweigh the cons, providing most of what one expects from an Apple product. If you want 5K, prefer a glossy finish, appreciate robust build quality, miss the 27-inch 5K iMac, and can find this on sale, it is recommended. Otherwise, there are numerous less expensive, less robust, but more versatile, options that might fit the majority of Mac user display needs.

This monitor is great for Mac!
I recommend the ASD if you have a Mac. . . everything just works seamlessly. The speakers are incredible for a monitor. The build quality is great - not plastic garbage. But most importantly, I can work on this all day long and my eyes don’t feel fatigued (which they have in the past working on other supposedly good monitors). If you’re obsessed with refresh rate, this is not for you. But if you want a monitor that provides a sharp image and crystal clear text that you can use for hours a day without eye strain, this is worth it imo.

Good looking monitor with an electrical flaw
I have had this monitor for more than one year and it started having an issue with producing high-pitched sound when the brightness is set below 100%(issue 253959333). And so the coverage has ended Apple obviously will ask for money for the repair of shockingly low-quality electrical design or circuit parts. So customers should be aware. UPD: The monitor died the next day. Will see what Apple service will charge for the repair. The pitties part is that the warranty ended 2 weeks ago UPD2: after taking it from the service where they replaced the power supply - it still produces a humming sound on the left bottom, what a shame Apple - I need to go to service again and pay another 300$ or more? Otherwise, it's a great product: design/sound/picture quality is superb

Love it
Love this beautiful display. Might be overpriced but the built in camera and microphone are great, and the display quality is wonderful. No regrets on this purchase
