A read for all
Read from May 22 to 25, 201650 Things You Should Know About The Vietnam WarChris McNab"Dr. Chris McNab has a PhD in literature and theology and is an author and editor specialising in military history and military technology." (about the author)This is a new title from the 50 Things You Should Know About series.Although earmarked for a grade school audience, I appreciated the opportunity to read and review the book.Chronicling from 1945-1980 allowed the exploration of conditions in the region pre and post years of American involvement in the Vietnam conflict. The book delivered what it promised," infographics, illustrations, maps, and color photographs from the period.. identifying major political and military figures from both sides of the conflict with the 'Who's Who' pages."It also "documents the significance of medical workers, protesters, and civilians caught in the crossfire." (publisher's note)I highly recommend this book as a review for those of us familiar with the period and a teaching tool for those unfamiliar.5 ★ ♥

A great resource!
These books are wonderful resources! Each of the "50 things you should know" is generally a topic (person, event, etc..) on a one or two page spread that is filled with facts and information about that topic. The text reads a lot like a text book, being very matter-of-fact and informative, however all of the bright info graphics, photographs, and colorful bullets make it very visually appealing and more interesting than your typical textbook. I love how much information they jammed into such a seemingly small book and the glossary and index make it very user friendly. It is also super helpful how they put all of the information in chronological order with timelines and bullets clearly mark the flow of events. I would recommend this book for older children due to more complex vocabulary.* I received this book for free in exchange for an honest opinion, which this is.
