NCIS - Season 8 [DVD]

The writers made a huge mistake here when they placed EJ (SecNavs Niece), above Gibbs. This spoiled the whole show. She really did not have a clue, though she did manage to bed DiNozzo!!! Other than that, she had no part in this show. Her actor was an arrogant sob and she was definitely a chip off the old block. The day that EJ left NCIS was one of the best episodes I have ever seen. Gibbs is NCIS, Barrett was a victim of nepotism at it's worst. Thank God both she and her uncle left. Goodbye to them both; neither will be missed. The best part of episode 23 was Swan Song where Gibbs lost his father figure Mike Franks. Just as Gibbs is a father figure to DiNozzo, Ziva and McGee, Mike was Gibbs' mentor. A sad loss, a sad episode but a necessary one. But most important of all, it was goodbye to SecNav and his spoiled niece.

Like many reviewers (which I only looked at after it had been delivered!) I have been sent a non-English language packaged product, although mine was sealed unlike some of the others.I'm very disappointed, the product photo is of the English packaging and nowhere in the details or description does it say this is not the UK retail packaged product.As far as I can tell from the back, the content should be in English but this is not what I was expecting.

Firstly the package. This was the UK version not the Dutch version quoted by so many reviewers.Excellent quality sound and vision. 6 discs with a host of extras including a short one on Michael Weatherley directing. There is a special feature on every disc except disc four and three on disc six. Box contained in a slip case.Note that 'some episodes may be edited from their original network versions' does this mean cut or extended or what? The blurb on the outside of the cover says that it' contains every heart-pounding minute of all 24 episodes' - ummm.As to the quality of the season, after all these years there are bound to be some flat episodes. The introduction of agent Barrett to the squad with her team didn't really gell and yet again we were 'treated ' to Tony's father ! ! I'm also wondering how the Marine corps is doing as so many of the bodies found, not only in this season but previous ones, are Marines.

This is a brilliant season from the conclusion of the previous season's 'Cliff-Hanger' to the introduction of another NCIS team and the Port-to-Port Killer story strand. Their are some classic face-offs between Gibbs and the new team-leader E.J and some great humour in the interchanges between the two teams as they begin to warm to each other. NCIS continues to deliver quality entertainment with humour and exciting action sequences.

Just bought this along with Season 7, and the humour mixed into the drama remains intact.Mark Harmon still excels as Gibbs, as does Michael Weatherly's DiNozzo, David McCallum's "Ducky" Mallard. Sean Murray's McGee, and, the lovely Cote de Pablo's Ziva David and Pauley Perrette's "Abby" Sciuto (both of whom still have the same effect on me...)I'm not into comparing Seasons, or criticising times when the occasional Episode is sub-par, just grateful that there are more to come.

Yet again another Superb series.Just when some series start to become the "same old thing" and loose their sparkle NCIS goes from strength to strength.They always seem to find that "twist" in the plot that keeps it fresh and interesting.The acting is,as always,superb and the interaction between the the characters is brilliant.totally recommended a must watch.

The much loved humour of the early seasons that marked this show as different, is in short supply, but this is an excellent season 8, better in my point of view than season 7. The emphasis is now on the story rather than being character driven. I do miss the original style but it cannot go on like that and the more serious approach of season 8 brings surprises, twists and perhaps shocks. Still a great cast and for me the best show of this type on TV (not that I have TV)!

I enjoy these series - they are well acted and well produced and good story telling. I am working my way through each series by each episode and it’s fun and help take away the daily stress.
