Ideal for oil and stale fuel extraction.
Bought this item to assist with oil change and stale fuel extraction when servicing my garden motor mower. There are numerous slightly cheaper options on the market but this particular item is sturdy, well packaged and maintains suction for controlled liquid extraction. Oil extraction is a little more challenging due to its viscosity and requires a little more arm strength than thinner liquids but still works well. Overall it is good value and a necessary accessory for awkward oil and fuel draining requirements. Would recommend.

Excellent Value!
Used for removing oil from petrol lawn mower. Sturdy piece of kit with good suction. Reasonable length of tube for my job and nice tight fit. Tube needed softening in warm water to get it on so I know they’ll be no leaks. Looking at the others on Amazon it’s a bit more money but I’m not going to have to bin it after a a few uses. I recon for my domestic use I won’t need to buy another. Many years of suctioning to come. Only 4 stars as I only used it once.

Handy bit of kit
Excellent for filling diffs and gear boxes on 4 we vehicles. Pipe a bit short for sucking out sumps. Item is well made

Sucks up petrol very well
Bought this to suck out petrol from my outboard tanks as they can get stood for a while. This does the job really well.Only thing you need to watch for is they do leak back slightly so when transferring from one tank to another there was a little bit of leak back so you need to wear gloves and use a finger to block the pipe. , but other than that great.

Easy peasy
I bought this as I do my own servicing. Gearbox filler is on side and a pain so this pump fills it with no leakage. Comes apart for easy cleaning and size is about right.

Easiest way to fill oil ...
If you're looking for one of these, then you don't need telling what it does. In a way, it's a bit of a luxury as you can fill differentials etc with a squeezy bottle. And while that works, you have to enjoy lying on your back and getting gear oil all over your hands and driveway. As the owner of a Series Land Rover, this enables me to fill the diff & gear/transfer box without getting under the vehicle. It's SO much easier. I bought this when the suction failed on my previous syringe - a metal one. Don't be pit off by it being plastic, it's as heavy as the metal one! I wouldn't be without one of these.

It did the job!
There were no instructions or guidance for use supplied with this device. Having read some reviews I was wary of what to expect when I got this so tested it on water before I used it to empty the oil sump on my lawn mower. It immediately started sucking air up into the chamber through the seal at the intake end plate via the threaded plastic. I tried tightening this up carefully by hand but to no avail. I then unscrewed the pump barrel completely from the plastic intake plate and found what was clearly the correct rubber sealing washer and one of a slightly smaller diameter. On inspection it was difficult to see how this extra smaller washer could have caused the problem as it was loose but I put it back together with only what appeared to be the correct rubber seal and nipped it up hand tight and it has worked fine since with both water and engine oil! I had to extend the plastic tube with a narrower one inserted as a push fit into it as the tube supplied was two wide to fit down the filler pipe of the mower but having to do this did not surprise me. The whole thing would benefit from a small shut off valve inserted where the rubber tube connects to the plastic intake end plate as there is a danger of losing the oil down the intake tube as the pump is moved sideways for the oil to be decanted. Also the ribbing on the pump barrel would allow a better hand grip if it was aligned round the barrel rather than along the barrel. I strong recommend that after use the pump is stored with the pump barrel slack on the thread of the intake end plate to prevent the rubber washer from becoming too compressed on the end edge of the barrel. When all is said and done it isn't bad for the price really and about par for the course nowadays. It did do the job, albeit after applying a life time's expertise in improvisation with this sort of thing. Like many things nowadays the issues I experienced were a classic case of the designer never having had to use his product and poor final assembly supervision. Just make sure you have a container all ready to empty your oil into before you start.
