An almost essential tool for 3D printing
When I first purchased this for my 3d Printer, I was afraid that the process for installing Klipper would be just as difficult as it has been in the past for me, but I was pleasantly surprised. This device is really almost entirely plug and play with a helpful screen and tutorial to walk you though setting up your printer. It has almost become essential for me and I can't imagine myself without it now as it adds so much convenient functionality to my printer. My favorite part about the Sonic Pad has to be that once you calibrate your printer, you're able to print at much higher print speeds while not sacrificing much in the way of print quality. It offers far more than that, allowing you to expand the ways you have in controlling your 3D Printer, from the bright and large 7 inch tablet display of the Sonic Pad itself to pretty much any device that has access to the internet and can open a web browser. Not to mention you're able to set up features like webcams and timelapsing and even AI detection for failed prints. There are some issues however that I hope will be fixed in time with firmware updates. First, sometimes the screen can be unresponsive when you're trying to cancel or start a print and I've had my printer refuse to trigger any of the end stops randomly and my bed probe has even stopped working randomly. These things never happened to me before the firmware change. A quick restart can fix these issues, however it's still a bit frustrating to deal with considering the price. Also, while setting up your printer is somewhat detailed, other calibrations that you might want to do are left to you to figure out, meaning if you have never done it before or don't know the correct way to do so... you might struggle to do it right. Overall, I love this device and I think anyone who is into 3D Printing should snag one up! If not for anything, grab one for the ease of use in installing Klipper!

Great, but still needs work
So this isn't something a beginner in 3d printing should get. It's capable of lots of things but it does require a good deal of setup. For the supported printers I'm sure it works fine out of the box but it can use almost any other printer out there. You just have to compile the klipper binary for the board that you have, flash it to your board, and provide the sonic pad a clean printer.cfg that will get it connected. After that there's a ton of calibration and configuration to do to make it print properly. There are features that it could support on every printer but doesn't. It won't let you connect to creality cloud without a specific printer for example. All in all its worth the buy. I just wish it could handle a usb hub and didn't have 2 ports on the side that you immediately have to use for connecting to your printer. Oh you can plug in a network cable but I suggest forgetting the wifi if you do. Otherwise it'll have 2 network connections and it'll get confused and not work properly.

DONT EVEN BOTHER
Don't even bother with this thing. If i could give this ZERO stars i would. I have Creality printers and thought this would be a plug and play, don't get me wrong this might actually be good, if it worked at all. Plugged it all in, ran it through the setup, the only settings i had time to change in the configuration section were z offset and recalculating my extruder. Tried a 15 min test print, got 99% done and threw an Error: Move out of range. Thought it was weird bc i didn't move the printer, the cable didn't disconnect, and i didn't lose power, but it was acting like i did. Tried to print again, threw the same error, weird but no luck getting answers from the internet. Apparently this Went to run input shaping (99% the reason i bought it) and it threw Can Not update MCU config error and wouldn't let me connect to the printer. Reboot Klipper, reboot the firmware, restart, same error and won't connect to printer even though it's plugged in. Did a factory reset, went through all the same setup including refreshing my printer, and wouldn't connect to the printer, reset, another error, reset, a different error code. If i could even get it to connect to the printer it would throw the same MCU error. Tried searching the internet for answers but apparently this thing was pushed out heavy with a lot of bugs and they're still not fixed. Couldn't get a single answer online other than, Creality customer support recommends rebooting, or starting over from the beginning (didn't work) This advertises it runs on klipper, well kinda sorta. Its like this interface has an interruption point from Klipper to your printer. You can connect from your computer remotely, but it will throw errors as it still has to go through this. After the 6th different error code i couldn't justify keeping this and trying to figure out what's wrong with it. Tried it for less than a day and wanted to smash it with a bat but i'll return it and use the money to get a Pi and a touchscreen, at least on the klipper discord you can get answers there. They won't touch the sonic pad and the Klippy logs don't tell you what actually is wrong. I'm not a programmer and the language is foreign to me but through the online interface i have a grasp on redoing parts of the config file. I wasn't about to go into the root folder of this thing and void any possible way to return it. Creality started as a good company on the reprap opensource ideal and it was my first 3d printer, but more and more they're leaning into products that feed off that but have non compatibility issues and proprietary parts. Started small with nozzles for their hotends and other hardware but it's bled into the software aspect. Time to build a VORON

A huge improvement over the standard printer controller. Allows remote control from web page.
