Excellent Printer !!!
The product received in an excellent package and in very good condition. DaVinci 2.0A is a very easy to use printer and it prints out of the box.But there is a little tip to get your first printing:a) place glue all over the print table (because printer prints some lines on the left and right edges and if there is no glue there the plastic will fill the head).b) recalibrate the printer before print for first time. After this little tip the printer prints fine and you get high quality results. The XYZprinting software hangs sometimes when sending job to printer. (I use Mac OS X 10.10.5) I do not care for this because I tend to use Slic3r and other similar software.I am very happy with this printer.

Documentation and support pages recommend upgrading to latest version
Firmware version 1.0.B installed, website gives latest version as 2.0.J. Documentation and support pages recommend upgrading to latest version. Response to upgrade option "Oops! Service not available. Please try later." How much later? Same response for over 3 weeks. Only automatic response from support email. Belgian telephone number given is unobtainable. Others on the internet are saying if you attempt to use any other cartridge except Xyz's very expensive ones the software will disable your printer completely. Very difficult to glue model to table without it being knocked off, maybe down to old firmware version. Very disappointed. Hardware seems robust and well made but software and support rubbish.UPDATE 17/01/2015. Still no firmware upgrade, nor response from xyz support. However I am upgrading my evaluation from 2 to 4 stars as I have successfully printed many models with the printer in "out of the box" state. After a couple of prints the print table seemed to acquire a coat of glue which turns sticky with a wipe with a damp cloth just before printing plus careful application of new layer, so few problems with models breaking loose. Being confined to Xyz expensive cartridges has advantages. You don't need to think about nozzle temperature settings as they are embedded in the cartridge chip. Other printers apparently need some experimentation with different materials to get the best temperature settings for the material being printed. The original impression of robust hardware has so far been confirmed. Having followed the table levelling procedure (contrary to the included written instruction, but contradicted elsewhere on the internet) I have not had to alter it since first setting the up printer. Not as yet convinced this dual nozzle version is much of an advantage, there are no instructions I can find on how to print with both nozzles in a single object. By printing two objects superimposed, specifying different nozzles for each object has worked, but seems a very crude way of doing it. On the whole I am pleased with my purchase, but feel very insecure without any backing from Xyz support.

Poor reliability
I bought this 3D printer 2 years ago. It worked well out of the box and, once I had got the hang of the new techniques, I was able to produce good results. I used it on and off for about a year, then the motherboard failed. After some to-and-fro with XYZ support they sent me a replacement motherboard that I fitted and the printer worked perfectly again - for about a year - and then exactly the same failure occurred again. I am writing this review now in exasperation because after more to-and-fro with XYZ they are now ignoring me. Replacement motherboards for this model are not easy to come by and can still cost £#00's. XYZ don't seem to sell authorised spares so you are relying on potentially copied parts bought on the internet. I have just given up and ordered a Flashforge instead - we will see if that is any better...

I initially ordered the AiO with built in scanner but the scanner is just so poor that it really was useless
Superb printer. I initially ordered the AiO with built in scanner but the scanner is just so poor that it really was useless. So, ordered one of these to get the benefit of dual colour. Whilst I accept the XYZ software is far from the best, it does the job, and whilst I agree the chipped cartridges are slightly more expensive than standard filament it does mean you don't have to worry about filament quality. For me, that alone is worth the small premium. It is so important to level the print bed before you do anything and my recommendation is not to use the bed levelling target of 100 that the manual states but to go for 225. This will prevent extruders clogging and creating poor prints. One of the easiest ways to achieve the levelling, after spending several hours doing it again and again is to buy the simple Android App on the Amazon App Store (Da Vinci Calibration). Fantastic bit of helper software and well worth the £1.17 cost. The printer is now creating some mazing output and I highly recommend this printer and at the price Amazon have it, with their legendary CS there is no reason not to give it a go. I was looking at more expensive products but am so glad I chose the Da Vinci Duo. I really don't think you will be disappointed but be prepared to accept that initial set up (bed levelling) will make the difference between quality prints and jumbled mess. Also, it will save your sanity and a likely return to Amazon.Enjoy and happy printing.
