The Official Soxon™ Sock & Stocking Aid/Donner

This is a simple and effective solution to the problem of not being able to reach down to put on socks - and it is a solution that works admirably.I had a hip replacement very recently and the Occupational Therapy Department of my local hospital gave me a sock-aid when I was discharged from hospital; unfortunately this was a simple hard-plastic device and was simply useless. I therefore ordered the Soxon and found that it works a treat every time.I have a very high instep and so was a bit concerned that the Soxon wouldn't be able to cope with this, but it does. Moreover, it works just as well with short trainer-socks as it does with longer ones. And I found it worked even better after I had had sprinkled a little talcum powder on the inside surface of the Soxon - it just made it slightly easier to slip over the surface of the foot.It works by having a rough outer towelling fabric which grips the sock firmly and pulls it over the foot. The inner surface is a softer material that is comfortable and slips smoothly over the foot. The sock is simply rolled onto the Soxon, dropped onto the floor, and pulled onto the foot. The straps are extremely sturdy, which is just as well because a reasonable amount of force is required to pull the Soxon onto and over the foot. It certainly helps if you wiggle your foot about as you pull the Soxon over, and it helps even more if the sock in not tightly pulled onto the Soxon in the first place. But with a little experimentation, it's very easy to find the best way that suits both you and the socks you will be wearing. I managed to source a couple of pairs of non-elastic topped socks, and they have proven to be the most suitable. But irrespective of all these things, the Soxon is a simple and cost-effective solution that works virtually every time. I've had it for four weeks now and use it every day. An excellent product.

Bought this for my 90 year old dad who has difficulty putting his socks on. My mum used to put them on for him but after passing away he had to wait for someone to come in to put socks on for him. This product was recommended by a friend and it really does works and will enable him to put his socks on himself.

In January this year, my husband, who is in his late 50's, had major spinal surgery. It was touch and go whether the op would be a success or he would be left permanently paralised from the waist down. Luckily the op was a success, but left my husband with the inability to bend from the waist, although he is still fully mobile. Since that time I have been helping him with the putting on of socks! This one small 'problem' deprived him of his independance as he had to wait for me to help with the said socks...Yesterday, I presented him with this piece of 'equipment' as a Christmas pressie and to say he was baffled is a slight understatement. This morning, he called me to assist him in dressing and stood at the top of the stairs grinning, fully dressed, and socks on ready to go! Stupidly, I burst into tears and he just grinned from ear to ear...he was again fully independent. I can't being to say how such a 'simple' little piece of equipment can add to the qualitiy of life. It was so easy for him to use as well, although it does look a bit odd. The straps are a good length for the pulling on of the socks and was just so easy and quick to use. For us, this really has put a new spring into my husband's step! Thank you for the great product and for allowing me to now have the occassional lie-in, oh, and the occassional weekend away with 'the girls!'

be aware that if you cannot use this item you cannot return it and receive payment. I tried to use this item but it was impossible. As far as I can see there is no warning that this item cannot be returned therefore this is misrepresentation.

I have found the soxon very easy to use but why do they have to be made in such a miserable colour? Towelling is available in every colour and just because a person needs assistance putting their socks on does not mean that they need to enter the drab world of beige.

Thought I'd give this product a try out as my hip causes difficulties when "battling" to get socks on. After a few weeks use I am able to comment as under:-(1) Order price is reasonable and the actual order was processed and delivered very promptly - one of the zippiest services I've come across on Amazon or elsewhere.(2) For me, the product works fine and has now become one of my best friends in terms of the help it gives(3) Am wondering if the strength of the pull-up draw strings will be long term viable because they do appear to "get some hammer!" However, so far so good and they certainly seem to be standing up to the strain so no complaints at all.(4) Overall summary to date - delighted I bought it!
