Hi, do they need to be glued down or can they just be placed down and then covered by insulation?

I've just placed them down without glue. Felt that the weight of the insulation on top of it would be sufficient to hold them down. I guess using sealant would help to seal around the base, but my only concern would be how resistant the sealant would be to the heat generated if you were using halogen bulbs. My solution was to convert all to LED's which emit less heat.

I need to fit a couple of these below my attic floor, are they flexible enough that I can squash them down a bit as they are about an inch too tall?

They are manufactured from rigid plastic or similar and not squashable. Brilliant product though, properly sealed I now get no draughts from my down lighters!

Can you stick down with no nails?

Can these be used simply to deal with reducing risk of fire? My downlights go straight into the loft and are next to insulation.
