Does an A5 size notebook actually fit into it ?

Yes. I use a Moleskine A5 diary and notebook and both fit easily at the same time.

No, it’s water resistant. But not waterproof. Good enough for a range day in January.but the contents will still need to be laminated or in a nyrex folder.
