I use this to connect a second monitor to my laptop and this gets the job done. I also use it to for the card slots, which also come in useful. This is a well made and sturdy piece which will last a long time, and I liked it so much that I have just brought another one to use with a different laptop.

Nowadays, new laptops are getting thinner and more portable at the expense of losing many of their USB-A ports, HDMI ports, and SD card ports. I searched extensively for a reasonably priced USB hub for my laptop and for desktop computer – and after doing a few minutes of research, I decided on this USB hub because of its Price, Size, and Functionality. This device has all of the most common ports that most people use: • 3x USB 3.0 ports – (for faster data transfer). Since it’s USB 3.0 - it is fast (up to 5 Gbps transfer speed) and backwards compatible with 2.0 and lower USB devices too. I haven’t noticed any connection drops or any other problems! • 1x HDMI port – (in case you need it to connect a second display) – I didn't really have a use for it as of now. • 1x SD slot – to import data from the memory card from your camera/recorder etc. • 1x TF card (microSD card) slot – in case if you don’t have an SD adapter for microSD. I have only tested this product with microSD cards, not SD cards. Using two different microSD cards with different speeds (SanDisk Extreme Pro 128GB microSDXC and Samsung EVO Select 128GB microSDXC) – I transferred 8GB of data and each of these transfers were extremely fast. Obviously, the different card speeds displayed different times – however each were completed within minutes (whereas usually I would have started the transfer and got up to do something else). ⓘ This Hub will NOT charge your devices! It is designed for Sync / Data transfer ONLY. 👉 I have been using this product for almost 4 months and everything is working perfectly fine. I’ve been really pleased with this device. There are no lag times when plugging something in and the reader is picked up by my MacBook Pro instantly. It’s made well with a metal case. The cable is long enough to make it easier to use. I would recommend it.

Great item and works fine

Bought this to plug into my phone and transfer video from camera's SD card to a usb drive plugged into the same hub. Get about 130MB/s reading from the SD card, which is 6x faster than the camera WiFi. SD card to USB transfer went without interruption, cheaper hubs I have used will stop half way through. Only have a USB 2.0 drive so this was slow but I suspect with a nice new USB 3 drive this will be much faster. One thing to watch out for is if you unplug the pass through power connection, it will reset the hub and the file transfer will stop, so watch out for that.
