Ateco 3218 18" Canvas Pastry Decorating Bag

I used it for my cheesy pastries and they comes out so good every time. It durable and easy to clean

I bought this because I tend to do a lot of butter cookies and got tired of having to refill the piping bags so frequently. This was the solution and I love it! I actually owned another of these but I needed a second after so many disappointingly weak disposable bags.I normally use canvas bags like this one in tandem with disposables to make my life easier. I'll place my desired piping tip inside this bag and then put whatever I'm piping into disposables, then put those into the canvas bag so if I ever need to switch, I can do so while still keeping a clean sturdy canvas bag and the same tip.This bag is easy enough to clean, just turn it inside out, but it takes forever to dry which is one extra reason why I use it in the way I do. I've had two from the same brand and I've not been disappointed yet! I'll continue to support this brand so long as I need a sturdy canvas bag. Definitely recommended, just make sure the piping tips you have will fit as the opening is fairly wide, and if not you can always buy an adapter or a smaller size bag!

The bag works alright, but cleaning it is very difficult. If the bag isn't cleaned properly, it will smell foul since it retains the oil from a previous usage. In order to clean it properly, you have to wash the inside, put the bag in boiling water, and then, wash it again. This will not guarantee the fabric from smelling, so you might have to do this several times replacing the water each time. To avoid this whole hassle, get the polyurethane, plastic or wunderbag, since they're easier to clean and you don't have to boil it in water. I'm sure the canvas has its usage and I'm ignorant to it, so it would be harsh to say that the canvas is bad.

Rating this bag for what i used it for isnt fair because i used it for ICING... the butter in the frosting permeated through the bag to the point where i just threw it out knowing i could never use it again :-(. If you are a pastry baker and use it for fillings i would say go for it because it really is a nice bag!!

This passed on capacity but fails miserably on function. When piping buttercream, the oils ooze out of the canvas making the bag a slippery yucky mess. I threw it out after one use!

It's pretty stiff but good for using with large decorating tube's, especially great for filling cream puffs with a pretty star tube!<
