Works as described
I have this adapter hooked up to my USB 3.0 card on my computer to drive a 3rd display. It has mostly worked well but occasionally it stops working and the screen goes black. I don't think it is this adapters fault but rather my USB 3.0 hub (which this is plugged into). It seems to have this issue when I unplug or plug something else into that hub. In any case, the response is pretty good considering it is pumping all that data through a USB connection. I don't know that I would watch video or play games on a monitor that is connected to this adapter (as the bandwidth for high frame rates may exceed its capacity and cause lag or stuttering) but for light office work it is great. Colors seem spot on and everything seems to work well. I'd be interested in trying more than one on a computer but I'm not sure I'm ready for more than 3 monitors on a computer. If you need a 2nd or 3rd monitor and your computer can't natively drive that many monitors I would recommend this adapter. It is inexpensive (compared to refitting your computer with a new graphics card to add a monitor) and in some cases you cannot swap out your graphics card.

stopped working after 6 months use. Worked well first month. Used it on a macbook pro, will be attempting to contact seller regarding warranty policy to see if it comes with a standard warranty. I'd buy it if it lasted more then 6 months. My SIIG vga adapter still works after 1 year use.

Better then what I thought was possible. Excellent Product!
I purchased this product primarily to add a third monitor to my dual head trading desktop PC. I was hoping to obtain good response times for watching videos and streaming TV. This product was simple to install and I was able to extend the monitor exactly as one would expect with Windows. I run Window 8.1 on an Intel I7.First I tested it with Excel, Word and basic apps. Then I tested it running two video camera streams along with a CNBC stream from TD Ameritrade on the connected monitor. The monitor was 100% responsive and did not lag. Next I tried to full screen HD video and this also did not miss a beat. Incredible. Best of all, I did this all using USB 2.0. This is a 3.0 capable device with a different driver install. My PC only has USB 2.0Last, I tested RDP to ensure the drivers did not effect anything settings. Again, no problems. The second test I did was to install the product on my older ASUS eee 1015PEM Atom processor. The processor is the dual core 550 version with 2 GB of ram installed. This also runs Windows 8.1I was able to use the monitor without a hitch. The ATOM PC is slow in itself and I was amazed I could stream video the way it did. I found standard video was the way to go rather then HD on the ATOM processor. Applications worked fantastic. Finally, the setup can easily be switched between PC's without rebooting or any issues at all. The included USB cable is high quality I'm very happy with this and would recommend it friends.

Only works on ONE external monitor using Windows 8.1-x64. Does not support two or more.
This device will only work one external monitor if you are running Windows 8.1- x64. It will not run two or more as described. I purchased two adapters, one for each external monitor I wanted to attach to my new Dell Inspiron 15R. After 4.5 hours of phone support with Dell trying to get it to work, the agent called Etekcity and they confirmed it was not compatible with Windows 8.1 for more than one monitor. I am returning both devices and have purchased a StarTech Universal USB 3.0 docking station that has a DVI and VGA port. It works okay with one monitor but there is occasionally some lag with mouse pointer.

This one lost the competition to http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BPEV1XKI couldn't get the sound to go through from my Mac to the HDMI port.Picture seemed OK; I didn't test full-screen moving video since I had already decided the other one was what I needed.

Excellent option for extending monitors
I have purchased a total of 2 of these adapters from Etekcity now, extending my laptop to a total of 5 screens. My displays are 1920x1080 screens using DVI. I am using a Thinkpad X1 Carbon laptop running Windows 8.1 and the USB 3 port replicator from Lenovo, which already gives me 2 additional displays (also using DisplayLink).I recently switched from a desktop to this laptop and I wanted to keep all 4 of my displays (+ the laptop display). Both of the Etekcity devices work flawlessly to further extend my laptop. I skipped the instructions and just got the latest drivers from DisplayLink and set them all up one by one. I then combined them with my port replicator for a total of 5 screens. The nice thing about DisplayLink is that most of these all work together well if you are mixing and matching. When I get to work, I plug 1 USB 3 cord and power to my laptop and all screens come to life, remembering their positions correctly. I chose the Etekcity brand for its value on Amazon and have been very happy with the purchase.

will not handle 6 monitors
They say you can connect up to 6 monitors and this is not true. I asked for help from the company and the did respond asking me to run there diagnostics tool. I did this and the report said every thing was compliant and up to date. I sent in the logs and never heard back from there tech department again. Even with multiple emails sent. I wasted a bunch of money buying this product and I would not recommend it for more than two additional monitors. This seems to be the limit it can handle.

Very satisfied.
Fairly quick and easy; didn't love that the only installer seemed to be on a CD - seems they'd make an online version available, but I had an external CD drive available so it wasn't a big problem. I used this to connect an old VGA monitor to a Mac Mini as a second monitor. Previously had a VGA to Thunderbolt adapter but needed the Thunderbolt port. No noticeable differences between this adapter and the previous one. The device itself is a little big, but it works well.

Not compatible with Mac OS 10.10
The adapter causes my Macbook Pro (early 2011, 13", Mac OS 10.10) to crash after several minutes of usage. The Etekcity customer service has repeatedly put me off, claiming that they would look into the issues their adapter is causing but after nearly 2 months, I'm still waiting for the promised updated driver to be sent to me. Strangely, my last rating has disappeared within hours.
