The ULTIMATE controller for PC/Switch
Dudes, I am blown away by the quality of the 8Bitdo Ultimate! (Bluetooth version) Sports 22-hour battery life and can toggle between Bluetooth (native Switch and PC) or 2.4ghz which is an alternative method which directly connects it to the included exclusive USB Dongle (this is optional and it works with Switch natively). The Joysticks are using the magnetic Hall-Effect sticks that will NEVER DRIFT due to them never making contact to wear out the senosr like normal sticks. Even Pro Controller CAN get drift! They also feel GREAT! Also the back triggers are full ANALOG which means that you can actually use this with racing games that detect the level of pressure you apply for the gas. Also this means you can use them with GameCube emulation like how in Sunshine you could lightly hold the FLUDD trigger to walk while you squirt OR full press to become stationary and aim you FLUDD squirt. The D-Pad feels extremely classic and it is MUCH MUCH MUCH BETTER than the Pro Controller's D-Pad, which is garbage. It also seems to not give false diagonals like MANY Switch controllers do; even the Pro Controller does this and it SUCKS! It's like how if you slide from pressing right to left repeatedly and sometimes the damn thing detects up or down. I HATE this! The buttons feel great and have a ounded top like an Xbox controller. They are also symmetrical unlike the slightly oval positioning on the Pro Controller. It must be noted that Plus and Minus buttons are in a completely sensible spot!!! It comes in white and black and the charging station matches the color as well. The charging station is powered by an included Type-C cord which connects to the Switch or any USB honestly. It surprised me when I seated the controller that it lights up while it charges and this looks very appealing. Also pictures won't do it justice, but the charging station makes it look like it's on it's own personal display stand, which is deserves and it hides the 2.4ghz dongle.

Second best controller I’ve ever used
Motion controls only work in bluetooth mode. Wish they worked in 2.4ghz mode but they don’t. Dont work in wired mode either. Why is this an issue? Bluetooth can have layency issues for high paced fps games. Motion controls are as good as the switch pro controller. There’s no nfc, and if there is, I couldn’t get it to work with amiibo. If you don’t care about nfc or just want to play games on pc, I recommend this controller. If you can afford the xbox elite series 2, it’s a much better controller for pc gaming and it’s regularly on sale for $99 at walmart, target, and gamestop. There is basic 2 type high and low rumble. Not hd rumble. If you want hd rumble and nfc, the switch pro controller is better. L4 and R4 are prominently placed and are a bit too easy to press and had a lot of accidental presses. They should be harder to press in, so I ended up not using them at all. Other controllers make the extra buttons harder to reach or harder to press which makes them better in my opinion. The windows software is hot garbage. No minimize function and when you close the software, it defaults the controller back to windows. It also requires that you be in 2.4ghz mode so you can’t orientate motion controls. You can do it in steam thankfully. That being said, I give this a solid 5/5 controller at $70, it feels like a $70 controller. I can’t find any faults with it at this price point. I like the modern design. Wish it came in more color choices of other arrangements like the dogbone snes style that I prefer. There’s better controllers but they cost more money. The feature set of this scratched off 9/10 points for me with the missing nfc being the largest annoyance which isn’t a big deal at all. If you’re on the fence over this or something cheaper, buy this controller. If you’re choosing the xbox elite 2 vs this, get the elite 2. It’s a good controller from a great brand that’s nice and solid feeling. You wont regret it if you buy it. I expect many months of hardcore gaming out of it.

Quality, comfort, at a reasonable price.
I upgraded to this because my old controller was getting so worn. This is so much more comfortable in my hands and feels very intuitive. I have had it for two days and played about 10 hours so far and no issues. It actually feels more responsive than even the switch controllers. I haven't programmed anything yet but am looking forward to that, it seems straightforward.

Not bad (so far)
Pros: Halleffect sticks: are nice and feel similar to the ps4 sticks. Grip: The grips on it are very comfortable and provide a great grip especially when my hands start to sweat, but I can still wipe off my controller pretty easily. Dpad: the dpad is a tad overrated in my opinion... it feels slightly better than the switch pro controller. Macros and customisation: 8 bit do has an app that allows you to change the controller sensitivity... you can change the sensitivity in both the sticks and the bumpers, plus you can configure macros and make different profiles for different games. Back buttons: the back buttons feel easy enough to click that you don't struggle, but hard enough to where you won't accidentally push them. (If you grip your controller really hard in stressful situations this could be a breaking point for you) Dock: the dock looks GREAT and clicks when you connect your controller to it. It also won't slide around as it has rubber on the bottom of it to prevent sliding. Negatives: Input delay: the input delay on this is noticeably worst than the switch pro controller (and yes, I plugged it into every USB port to make sure it wasn't a fluke) It's playable, but until they make an update, I wouldn't go competitive in any game titles with this controller which stinks because the features are amazing! (Keep in mind I haven't finished my pc yet so I can't make a review for pc yet) Dimensions: if you have small to average hands like me you'll be fine, however if you have larger hands, you'll struggle to find a comfortable way to hold this since it's slightly boxier than the switch pro controller and the same size. Thumb grips: the stock thumbsticks feel a little slippery for my taste so I ended up just putting on some rubber grips over top of it. Conclusion: It's good if you're a casual player who wants some extra features and is tired of stick drift. But if you have large hands or are a competitive player trying to get the most out of your switch, I'd still recommend the official pro controller. Plus, if stick drift is an issue, you can just buy the $5 warranty from Amazon and keep the box so you can just send it back for a new one. Hope this helped, have a good day!✌️

No drift!
This is the best controller I’ve used with the Switch. After almost 6 months of use I’ve had zero issues with it. I do occasionally experience lag time when using the controller but I believe it has more to do with my Switch getting hot while playing multiplayer games like Smash Bros. or Goldeneye. I don’t think it is the controller because the joy cons will also lag when playing. The only way to avoid it is to use a corded controller but I don’t play at an elite level so I don’t worry about it. I have a white one and I’m considering getting a couple more colors for Christmas as my kids are always wanting to use mine, lol. If you are on the fence, get it! Great battery life, and after the initial pairing, there’s zero issues connecting it. It can even wake up the Switch if you shake the controller which is a nice benefit. The only complaint is with the software. The controller can hold 3 different custom controls but for whatever reason, I can only remap buttons for the first setting. The other two, all I can do is adjust stick sensitivity and rumble. Still, it’s a small complaint and maybe there’s a work around for the button mapping?

HAS RUMBLE and feels great in the hand!
I have been shopping for a better pro controller for the switch for waaaay to long and was dying to find something thay could rumble so I can finish several games that require it to complete cetain sections and not only did the 8bitDo perform amazingly the battery life is insane!! I still have not charged in since I bought it and despite my kid waking it up and playing with it constantly the controller is still at 50% battery (probably has been like a month and a half). The sticks and buttons have an excellent sturdy feel in the hand and I can attest this thing can survive some absuse being kicked around by kids. This controller is going to have a perment spot next to my PC at se point because the Bluetooth and wired use are factastic! Zero issues with drivers or latency. If you don't want to pay stupid Nintendo money for a controller that will need warrenty work at some point in it's life (I have a literal half gallon bag or busted drifting controllers) buy this controller and never look back!

Out of box review
This is my straight out of the box review. Unlike some of my other cheap 3rd party controllers I had zero issue with adding this to my Switch. I went to grip order, followed the instructions and it connected with ease. In case you didn't know, pressing the middle circle button and shaking the controller will turn on the Switch. The Switch Pro controller only requires the button press so I am unsure why they made the shake part of the process but it's not that big of a deal. It also takes a few seconds to connect before I can actually press a button, while the Pro Controller works almost instantly. Controller dock has a neat white light underneath and plugs into my Switch dock. The build quality is like any other controller, it's not amazing or bad just a good solid controller. My only complaint is the coarse grips. Some people find them comfortable while I initially found them to feel like sand paper. After gaming awhile it becomes less bothersome but never the less I'd prefer something softer for the grips. ***Edit*** After a few days of use the grips actually aren't so bad. I do still prefer something more squishy and soft vs grip style but its comfortable non the less.

Premium Feel, Easy Setup — Works Perfectly on My 1st Gen Switch
I’m using this with a 1st generation Nintendo Switch, and it paired without any issues at all. No lag, no dropouts, no weird syncing process — just straightforward setup and solid performance. That alone earns points in my book. The controller feels excellent in hand. The sticks are smooth and accurate, buttons are responsive, and the triggers feel consistent. It has that “built right” feel — not cheap, not hollow, not toy-like. I’ve used the OEM Pro Controller, and this absolutely holds its own. A couple things worth pointing out: You can sync more than one of these to the Switch, which makes it great for multiplayer without mixing different controller styles. The 2.4GHz receiver is stored inside the charging base, which is a nice touch — you won’t lose it rattling around in a drawer. If you want to use 2.4GHz, just pull the receiver from the base and plug it into your device. That said, if you plug the charging base directly into your device with USB, you don’t even need to use the receiver. It’s well thought out, flexible, and just works the way it should. I appreciate hardware that doesn’t require babysitting or constant troubleshooting. If you’re running an older Switch like I am and wondering whether it’ll behave — it absolutely does. Very happy with this purchase.
