Armor Lighter

I've passed my love of Zippos on to my youngest son who now has three of them. This one is a classic with a very simple design. I've had my original similar design Zippo for about 40 years and it has survived a 40 foot drop when falling out of my pocket whilst I was abseiling upside down. It still looks great even with a few war wound scratches and works like a dream lighting first time every time and staying alight even in the strongest winds. The only things I have replaced are the wick and flints. In a world of high technology this classic design has changed little in decades and if this one lasts 40 years like has then it shows great value for money.

My first zippo lighter(matte black) was my edc lighter until it was stolen and I had this one as my good lighter(no tricks or abuse). After I made a terrible attempt at customising it with spray paint, it was in an unusable condition. This is now my third zippo and it's exactly the same quality as it's always been. I did hand polish it myself when it arrived just to add a protective coating and to clean it. I got it to a mirror finish and the only mantinence I will do is a thorough clean and polish every few months. I love it when somebody asks me for a lighter and I pull it out and it's perfectly polished. Also, nowadays 90% of smokers use disposable lighters and never get attached to them. With a zippo, you become very attached and always keep it in tip top condition. I will be buying another one for my get home bag and for spare parts just incase.

I wanted a wind-proof lighter so I got the Armor in High Polish Chrome. This is my first Zippo in many years and the first 'Armor', so yes, I find it a bit more heavy and substantial than I remember, which I like. The colour is not so 'light' as in the pictures, it looks slightly darker. The chromed surface is extremely prone to smearing & fingerprints so it's never mirror-like, as in the photos. The gap at the lid is more pronounced compared to the hairline gap in the pictures (even without the inner part). The hinge has quite some play. There was no red label on the lighter, but I trust it's genuine. The lighter comes with a flint but of course no fluid. I decided to fill it up but I couldn't pull the inner out because it was firmly stuck inside. I managed with some WD40 (some black-ish stuff also came out), and now I have smeared a bit of Vaseline all around so it's a bit easier (but still hard) to open and refill. Overall (except for the wobbly hinge) I am happy with my new lighter.

Bought for that showoff chance around the camp fire, "got a light?"... I have my Zippo.... Its a nice lighter but I would not use this for camping etc... the chances I hand this over to impress I know it will let me down... It does not hold fuel.... These lighters evaporate so quickly it's quite amazing. I bought the gas flame insert which is much better as I have only filled it one and it's still going. Happy I have it for aesthetics but I would not collect more, especially some can cost £££s.

Lighter arrived earlier than expected in a well padded envelope. Genuine Armor Zippo as described in perfect condition, in the Zippo box with Zippo's fabulous guarantee, instructions, etc. Obviously unfuelled for safety during transit but it had a fresh flint in it. Lights cigarettes, doubles as a shaving mirror, makes ladies take two steps backward when you light it and probably stops bullets, which is nice. Very pleased indeed.

Good lighter - case is thicker than normal zippos. It gives a nice click when you open it. Do not to play zippo tricks as the hinge will get worn out easily - due to heavy lid. If it is damaged badly you can send it to zippo company for free repaire. It would recommend it to zippo collectors or users.

I really like this zippo BUT it arrived without a wick. Come on Zippo…..Make Amour Great Again!!!

The chrome high polished armor edition is the best zippo lighter I have purchased from Amazon along with the single torch insert it is the perfect combo very sturdy and well crafted compared to other zippos i have purchased. The only slight issue i had with the combo was the insert was a tad bit loose at the top when inserted. So I just took clear tape wrapped it around the top three times and pushed it back into the casing and it is perfect you can't see the tape at all and it is snug and secure. Purchasing this lighter and torch was a good choice and I can tell it is going to last a long time. The video I have posted is after I put the tape on it you can't even see it on there.
