Works very well. Fast and Highly recommended.
I used this with a SATA HDD to upgrade an IDE based audio recorder (Yamaha AW1600). It worked well with the two drives I tested. These were a Vertex 2 SATA II 60GB and a Samsung 840 EVO 250GB. Having tried two other SATA to IDE interfaces, this was the only one I found that worked properly in my particular scenario. The other interfaces I tried either did not work fully or were very slow. I have not done exhaustive testing but it does appear that this is a very good product.

Works fantastically well.
These are probably the better versions of this type of drive conversion for SATA drives into IDE cables. If piecing together a system with any value or stability requirement, I would stick with these. Perfect for things like modified original XBOX systems too. I will say that due to the design they may not suit all needs. There are alternative versions which plug in on the motherboard side instead of drive side. These have the advantage of not requiring IDE cables. I thought it worth mentioning as for some people this may be a better option, so look for these instead, however be aware that most of the ones which fix to the IDE plug on a motherboard take up the entire IDE channel, where as ones like this allow for the traditional dual drive with a master and slave drive.

Works perfectly with original Xbox
Like many others I bought this to use with a modded original Xbox. You'll need an 80 pin cable to go along with it but then you should be able to use any drive - I went with a 1TB Kingston A400 SSD and it works great. Simple plug and play affair. The power cable is a bit long for this and you don't need the passthrough but it's nice to have. If I'm really that bothered I can just wire up or find a Molex to Berg cable if I really want to.

Expensive with an anoyingly cheap IDE connector
It is a bit overpriced for what it is. It's a premium option but even then there are concerns about optical drive compatibility. The cheapness of the IDE connector is annoying. This is probably the best option for hard drives and if you're using a master then slave setup. If you're just wanting to convert a single optical drive then it's probably better to take a chance with a cheap no-name adapter from eBay or AliExpress.

Outstanding
These adapters are absolutely outstanding and have allowed me to bring an old PC with a failed IDE drive back to life with a duel boot XP and Win98 SSD install. The pins are strong, I don’t think they will bend like the cheaper adapters. They also work for attaching a modern Blu-Ray drive to an older IDE cable system. Just remember if using more than one to move the pre-installed jumper to either slave or cable to prevent conflicts with the master drive. Cons: Remember to place electrical tape on the back of the pins, as they will short out on the PC case if they make contact. I would have liked if the IDE pins had a plastic guide around them, just to be 99% sure that they won’t get bent, but as mentioned they are very strong and well made. Final Tip: If you are using these to install Win98, stick to an SSD under 137GB and create a 7.5GB partition for the OS or you will get stuck at ScanDisk during setup. Then a secondary partition to make use of the rest of the disk space.

Worked for HDD replacement in softmodded OG xbox
Had a cheap green IDE-SATA card from ebay, it didn't work and was a waste of money, the 40-pin 80 wire ribbon cable that came with it was too short as well. This startech IDE-SATA worked fine, put the jumper to slave by putting the clip on the slave pins, it picked up my 2TB Seagate HDD without issue when I checked in the chimp software. I also got a longer 40-pin 80 wire ribbon (60cm) which was easier to channel within the xbox. (I used the chimp software to copy eeprom/original HDD to the new one and create E, F & G partition. Then I had to use xbpartitioner to make those partitions visible. Split the HDD between F & G, first formatted it with a megabyte less than given. Then formatted it again with all the available megabytes, this worked. Also set to 64mb cluster. Would recommend this for xbox original HDD replacement.

Works reliably and seemlessly
Purchased for use with an Asus CUSL2 old pentium 3 motherboard that only has PATA IDE and this handy devices allowed a newer SATA DVD drive (or SSD) to work. The motherboard and Win98 are oblivious to the device, it just shows as a PATA IDE drive. Startec seem to be only reliable brand when it comes to these little adaptors, of which many cheaper, far less reliable versions are sold. This one should just work. Treat it carefully as it'll not take lots of plugging/unplugging.

Upgrade your legacy device's hard drive.
Works perfectly. I used it to plug in an ssd into my G3 minitower. Had some back and forth but it was because of the system, not the adapter. If you are trying to get OS 9 on your mac, I had the most luck using QEMU to install the os onto the drive before booting. Either way, it's a wonder stuff like this exists and it's a great price.

Super produkt

Excellent product, highly recommended for Retro PCs with IDE support
I've used a few of these in Windows 98 gaming PCs that only support IDE. It means that all of the SATA HDD's I have lying around can be installed in these retro systems, as IDE drives are hard to find and overpriced these days. There are some operating system and hardware limitations of your retro system if you wish to use larger SATA drives, so be prepared to use something like Seatools to "trick" your larger SATA drive into thinking it's only 128GB/137GB in capacity for Win98 usage for example.. I've tried cheap ebay copies of this item and they are intermittent, it's not worth the hassle, spend the money on this for a reliable and great experience ;-)
