Golden Acrylic Medium, Glazing Liquid, 32 Oz, Satin

There are so many glazing mediums on the market, and trying to figure out which one to buy can honestly feel overwhelming. I needed something to dilute metallic glaze for a furniture project, and after a lot of research, I decided to go with this one from Golden Artist Colors. I’m happy to say it was a great choice. The consistency is absolutely perfect. It adds working time, smooths out application, and helps create a beautiful semi-transparent finish without streaking or buildup. It blends easily and gives you time to really finesse the look. For my project, I mixed it 3:1 with a metallic antiquing glaze from Heirloom Traditions Paint to create a subtle, shimmery effect on the top of a desk. It worked fantastically. The finish came out soft, elegant, and professional looking. One thing that really impressed me is that I accidentally left my mixture out overnight, and it was still perfectly usable the next day. No drying, no weird texture, no waste. This glazing medium is easy to use, very flexible for different applications, and helps you achieve a beautiful, custom finish. If you do furniture refinishing or decorative painting, this is a product worth having in your studio. I’m definitely happy with it and will keep using it for future projects.

Perfect for glazing and layering

This is a great product for glazing and creating depth. I used it to create Rothko-like acrylic paintings. It doesn’t take much. I used an approximate ratio of 1/3 glazing, 1/3 acrylic fluid paint, 1/3 water. Mix well. The layers laid down beautifully. Don’t rush the process. When glazing, let each layer dry thoroughly before laying on another thin layer. Brushes clean easily with soap and water.

It was a little bit thicker than I expected, but it worked great! I'm very happy.

Used it for a faux marble wall project. A little thinner than I'd hoped so layering it on its own didn't quite give the ideal translucent depth effect one wants for faux marble or granite. But the sheer color layers are nice and the overall look is pretty good. This product mixes and blends well which makes it easy to work with. Minus one star for thinness though.

You can't go wrong with Golden products. But, knowing which one to get is imperative. I got the SATIN finish, because I wanted to "tone down" the plastic sheen that acrylics have. This Satin finish worked perfectly for keeping that shiny plastic-look to a minimum. I was using it on stretched canvas. Very happy with this product.
