Synthrapol is an industrial strength neutral detergent created especially for dyeing fabric. Used as a pre or post wash, it helps prevent fading by keeping loose dye particles in suspension. It also works well as a wetting agent for wool and other difficult-to-wet fibers. For marble, it can be added directly to the colors to facilitate diffusion. Review: Good detergent for tie dye - Synthrapol is the best. It's great for removing excess dye after tie dye. I also used it to get dye stains out of second hand clothes. A little goes a very long way Review: Prevents dye from bleeding - I knit a colorblock sweater with big contrast in colors. When I blocked my swatch, I noticed a lot of color bleeding and I was concerned about the final sweater. I used this for blocking and it worked great. The water turned a slight color, but nothing bled into the garment. Great purchase.

Not for baby quilts!
Should not have bought it for baby quilt making. Toxic.

Saved a quilt
My husband machine washed an old quilt that had red and cream fabrics. Of course, the red ran all over the cream. I bought this and machine washed the quilt with 1/3 of bottle added to water and several Shout sheets. It took two trys, but the quilt is almost perfect. You can only see a pale pinkish tint in a few spots and only in bright sunlight.

Removes most dye runs
I purchased this on the recommendation that it would remove dye runs from some of my clothing. While it did remove it in the majority of my clothing, there were a few items that weren't salvageable. It definitely is a miracle worker for some mishaps, but don't expect it to fix everything!

Not that effective
If this is supposed to help set dye it does not work that well. Though color does not seem to fade, I now have pink dish towels.

I didn't find it removed the stain as well as I had hoped. I washed it several times and it improved each time but never back to the original state. I will say the stain was severe.
