Motor great, foot pedal complete garbage
Motor is excellent, highly recommend it if you can buy it alone. The foot pedal that it comes with it is complete garbage. It will work for about a week then start to lose its ability to go slow. It essentially only has 2 speeds: full stop, or max speed. It will damage your projects and the expensive materials you paid for and spent time prepping for sewing. The seller did send me a replacement pedal, so I appreciated that. However, the second one had the same problems. I also had to ship the first one back which cost nearly half the price of a brand new pedal so all that did was eat away more of the cost. I suggest purchasing the motor alone if you can find it and then perhaps looks for a different pedal. 1.5amps is powerful and great for working on thicker materials like backpacks and webbing.

Wrong bracket, difficult pedal, powerful motor
Bracket is not as pictured. Which was the main reason I went for this motor. The mouting is on the front. Doesn't allow for bolting your old bracket to the motor side like the picture suggests. Lucky the belt it came with allowed me to figure something out to use the bracket it comes with. The pedal has two speeds, sort of power that doesn't move the needle and all power that is faster that anything has reason for. It's very sensitive and essentially a one speed pedal. I put a fan speed controller to slow it down. It's a terrible pedal. However the motor is stronger than the 0.9 amp one I have from Amazon. It is stronger than the typical sewing machine motor. Strong enough for any domestic sewing machine. I've sewn though as many layers of fabric that would fit under my presser foot and had power to spare. It's not a great deal because of the pedal offering no control, but the motor and belt are working well. Be ready to replace the pedal or be creative, like using a speed limiter like I did or something.

The pedal gets hot, could be better.
The motor was used for a low powered project that needed speed control. Plenty of power at 1.5 amps. After a short time the motor would not respond as well to the amount of pedal travel and it got hot. I had to take the pedal apart, clean the contacts, adjust it, reassemble it and it was good to go. Love the motor, the pedal could be better. Would probably buy this item again since the motor seems well made.

The speed petal on lasted for several times. Will not start the sewing machine at slow pace
Install was simple .pedal switch is poor quality. Motor was out standing quality for the Sewing machine. Built well.

Not variable speed
Motor runs fine and is very fast but it is all or nothing. It is not variable speed. Why would anyone want a sewing machine that is wide open all the time?

The Good and the Bad
THE GOODFirst of all, I like the motor. It is actually pretty well-built. I've seen comments about "smells like it's burning up". Mine has the smell of a new motor being run for the first time. That part is normal, and I'm sure that it will go away after a little while.THE BADI won't call the foot pedal "junk" as some have, but I will say that it's more cheaply-made than the motor that it comes with. More to the point, it's not designed to do what I (and others) expected of it. Rather than allowing the user to speed up and slow down the machine, it is simple a momentary switch mounted inside a foot pedal. It just turns the motor all the way on or all the way off. Those people who say that their foot pedal gets heated up are probably experiencing that from the momentary switch being not fully closed, nor fully open, as they try to control the speed. It's a poor design for the intended purpose.

Great replacement/upgrade motor with a crappy pedal.
The motor bolted directly to my brother machine as a replacement. Much more powerful than the factory one. This machine can sew like never before. HOWEVER, the foot pedal is atrocious. I even tried to dismantle and repair the resistor inside, but nope. It has 2 speeds. Off, scary fast straight to ludicrous speed! The resistor inside does not work well at all. But fortunately my original brother foot pedal works just fine with the new motor. You just have to open it and adjust the trim for a higher amp motor.
