There's a slight learning curve; otherwise, this template tool is a great little jig for setting and cutting curves in your project.

Used this product to measure car fenders. Am restoring a vintage car (1964 GM concept car--El Camino and wanted to make sure the fenders were exactly the same. The product worked exactly like I wanted.

If the curve you're trying to reproduce is not as long as the device, there is no way to shorten the device except to remove links and cut off the metal band. Overall the item so far worked well to reproduce a curve then transfer the shape to some type of medium. It is quite unwieldy, though, and takes at least 2 people to manipulate it. It's also very uncomfortable to handle. Be sure to use gloves.

Am making a hanging cabinet to be mounted in an alcove. This device helped me to trace the curvature of the alcove which like most walls wasn't even.

I cannot stress this enough, if you are trying to draft a template for contur. This is the tool for the job.

We used it already to measure the curvature inside a wind tunnel that was built in the 1950ties. No detailed drawings. We use the template to get the curvature. Then trace it on paper and from paper we go to a 3D CAD drawing. Extremely useful tool.

Excited to find this product as we are renovating our old Airstream with lots of curved walls. However, I found the first time I used it after locking down device it did not hold shape accurately in order to transfer shape to plywood. I tried adjusting and trying it multiple ways. I just couldn’t achieve the accuracy that I needed. Which is why I bought in the first place. Also there was a slight bend in the spring steel (an imperfection) that also threw off the curve. Really, really disappointed. Thought this would be a great tool.
