Excellent and versatile product
I have had this now for several months. It is excellent and very versatile.I always use a temperature probe to check the progress of meat being cooked in the oven, this ensures correct doneness. This probe is excellent for that, reliable and accurate. The specification states a temperature range of -50 to 300 degrees Celsius. Most units I have owned only go to 200 degrees or so and the probes are prone to failure if left in meat in the oven.I also bought the mini needle probe which is very fast to read and seems to give a very localised temperature reading, making it ideal for checking steaks. It has both high an low alarms so you can check that an oven or fridge is holding a temperature within a band. Also useful for checking the temperatures in the deep freeze etc.An excellent purchase.

Good quality cooking thermometer
This cooking thermometer works very well. I tried it at Christmas when cooking a slow roasted joint of meat and it helped to ensure the meat was thoroughly cooked. The temperature probe is long enough for even large pieces of meat, the display is large and easy to read and the unit seems to be well made.

Awful LCD screen
First things first - I haven't tested it yet, but I'm sure the device works as intended and is accurate like everyone else says it is. Controls are super easy and intuitive, in hand it doesn't feel as cheap as it looks. Has a good heft to it and buttons are nice. I had to write this review immediately because of the LCD screen. You see how the main product picture is taken at an angle - looking a little from the right? You know why? Because the screen looks like crap from any other angle. Looking at it straight-on you feel like you have a lazy eye (right eye sees semi okay looking digits, left eye sees hazy digits). I'm almost sure it has been improperly designed and the screen has been manufactured rotated 90degree CCW. It would be much easier on the eyes if you could rotate it 90degrees CW.Pics show what I mean, they are taken both equally sharp, pay attention to on screen digits. And it's much worse to look at in person. I hope it's going to be an amazing device aside from that or I'm gonna be pretty mad about what I paid for.

Brilliant bit of kit widely praised on the web
ETI has the reputation for making some of the best digital thermometers in the world........and this one is highly recommended. Bought it for use in my BBQ smoker, and works brilliantly. My only improvement would be to include a clip for a BBQ rack instead of the clip included which is for holding against the side of a saucepan........but a minor niggle. Liked it so much, have ordered two more, so I can have one for air temp inside the smoker, and two others for keeping inserted inside the meat inside the smoker.

perfect
I have had many many brands of meat thermometer over the years. This one is the absolute Daddy of them all. It is an accurate, fast, professional thermometer with a combined timer which also shows how mach you overrun if you miss the alarm. It has a minimum temperature feature for if you are chilling food or if you want to maintain food between two temperatures when cooking. You can achieve perfect roasts, simmers and most other forms of cooking with this devise. I also use when barbecuing to make sure the food is properly cooked right through without being overdone. Just wait for the alarm and the food is perfect. There are much cheaper models but in this case you definitely get what you pay for.

Fine... for the right price
I bought it for 18 pounds and for that price it's fine but I don't think it's worth the 40+ pounds it's sold for now. It's fine. It does the job but I don't think it's that accurate and the metal wire of the probe is just amazingly annoying to use.

accurate and sturdy
easy to read display, well calibrated, useful max high min low feature to see the range of temperatures since the start (when measuring air temperature long slow cooks on the bbq for example keeping the weber kettle around 110c)

Broke in 3 weeks
Most importantly, the cable was broken with only 3 weeks of light usage. But even if the cable were durable, the alarm interface is a disaster. The low temperature alarm rings whenever you turn the thing on! I tried to disable it by default but couldn't figure out how to do so. It's a pity because it was a very accurate thermometer.
