Does this door mat stay in place on carpet?

Yes, it stays in place for my household. We have it right by our sliding glass door, and it sits on a tile floor. It has a rubber backing which sticks to the floor well. I have the larger size mat, so maybe that makes a difference for staying in place?

Can this be placed on a deck outside?

I have large runner on the inside of the house by the doggie door and one outside the door on the deck.  It does have a slight roof overhang, but the rug gets wet when it rains, of course.  It still gets quite a bit of direct of the dog's feet.

How do you wash and dry it? It does not matter if it is maroon or not.

I own 7 of these in all sizes and colors...needed more as my dog aged into geriatric years for more stable footing on my hardwood floors rather than only at front and patio doors.  After shaking the rugs out in the back yard, the best way for me to wash them -- since I have an old GE agitator washing machine -- is in my bathtub using All Free-Clear (100% free of perfumes and dyes) Odor Relief liquid laundry cleaner.  I begin filling the stopped-drain tub with cool water, add a little less than a cap full of the detergent, let it suds a bit and then put the rug in pressing down and agitating it with my hands to ensure all parts get sudsed up.  Then, I open the drain so the the water can drain out...note that the color always bleeds (if washing two Small size rugs together, they should be the same color).  Note that a lot of dirt and dust comes out and it's best to have a metal hair/dirt catcher drain insert (sold on Amazon) inserted into the drain to prevent potential blockage.  Then, I pull up the rug(s) and squeeze out as much excess soapy water as possible, put the rug(s) back down and re-fill with cool water, agitate the rug(s) again, let the water drain, and squeeze out more more excess dirty water.  Next comes the quick turn around into my washing machine -- right across from my tub (condo living) -- draping part of the rug over the agitator with the gripping side facing the agitator and the rug itself facing outward, set it to the spin cycle (only), and when done, into the dryer it goes with the rug side up and on a delicate heat setting...if it gets too hot, I alternate between Air Fluff/Cool and delicate heat.  Completely dries within one hour.  Also, don't mix rug colors or add in clothes in the dryer...rug colors can still bleed until completely dry.  And, never leave the dryer on and leave the house, especially while drying these rubber-backed rugs...that's how fires can start. Always check on how hot the rug feels, particularly the non-slip backing, and alternate lowering the drying temperature.  Lastly, clean out the lint trap between every separate rug drying because a lot of lint is going to come off into the trap.  Yep, this is a lot of work but it gets the rugs pretty clean...these rugs are a bxxch to vacuum.

What are the dimensions? What color is the mat shown, brown or khaki?

I believe the one shown is the khaki, but there is also a dark brown.  I have two brown, one khaki, and a runner, also in brown.  Obviously, I love them.  The smaller ones are perfect for entrances from outside, as they sop up all the mess from rain, snow, etc. both on your pup's feet and yours!  I got the larger one (the Khaki) to cover my dog's large bed because it easily washes and keeps the bed nice and clean.  I can take it anywhere, and my ECGR (English Cream Golden Retriever) pup will know where he has to rest by where the mat is placed.  The runner is an added help with the wicked weather we have in the Northeast.  The smaller ones are about 31x20, the larger one is about 35x25, and the runner is normal length.  These wash great (counter-balance them in your washer because they soak up a lot of water in the washing process and become very heavy. They can go right in the dryer.  I have heard that the maroon ones do not hold their color and may bleed into your washing machine hardware.  I have had no such problem with the other two colors.  You will love these!
