This is the only review you would need for this mic
I’ve been using the Rode NT1 5th Generation for a couple of weeks now and wanted to share my thoughts for anyone considering it. Firstly, I was pleasantly surprised by how sturdy and well-built this mic feels - even the SM6 shock mount and pop filter that come with it seem like they’re built to last. The setup was pretty easy, and I got it all hooked up without any fuss. I use it in my home studio, and it’s been a game changer for my recordings. The sound quality is clear and crisp, and it manages to capture the richness of vocals and instruments alike without adding any unwanted noise. That quiet operation is something I appreciate, especially considering the not-so-perfect acoustics of my space. The SM6 shock mount does a stellar job of minimizing any vibrations or accidental bumps from reaching the mic, and the pop filter is effective in reducing plosives, which gives a clean, professional sound to my recordings. For the price, the Rode NT1, with its shock mount and pop filter, feels like a solid investment, especially if you're getting into recording and want something that’s good quality without being overly complicated. Really happy with it and would definitely recommend to fellow musicians and podcasters!

Awesome Mic For Amazing Value
This microphone exceeded my expectations. It sounds warm, clear, and crisp. For only $229, you can't possibly beat it. This microphone can compete well with microphones at a much higher price range. Ever since I got this mic, my hip hop vocals have skyrocketed in quality, because now the vocal quality is professional sounding. I don't even have to add EQ to the vocals I record with this bad boy (unless I was trying to make it sound a very specific way, but normally adding EQ to the vocals from this mic would be like selling yourself short...), all I need to do is add compression and a reverb, and it sounds really good. I tried rapping into this mic without the pop filter, and surprisingly, the plosives didn't show up as much as I thought they would. It will happen, no doubt, but I was just surprised at how much harder it is to get them to show up. You can scream into this mic, you can speak very softly, you can make your voice sound any way you wish, and it will pick it up pretty much exactly like you actually sound... except with an added smoothness and warmth (though, I would not say as warm as a good tube mic, like the Rode K2 or Rode NTK). No, it doesn't allow you to utilize multiple polar patterns, it is strictly cardioid. That's why this microphone is best for vocals. I would say that would be one downfall of this mic. But geez, it only costs $229... how could you possibly go wrong? If you're starting up your own home studio, this is a must buy. Don't go with those cheap USB powered microphones... they're not good for vocals or anything except talking on skype and podcasting. The Rode NT1-A is an exceptional mic, and the value cannot be beaten. You can register your microphone at the Rode website to get a 10 year warranty on it... for free. A free 10 year warranty on an awesome microphone, to protect your investment. The pop filter it comes with is good. It has never allowed any plosives through. Before you even hook it up, you can test it by blowing through one side and putting your hand on the other. You will barely feel the air coming through. The shockmount ain't bad, it does the job. Do not drop this mic, as condenser mics are very fragile. Also, they are very prone to moisture and dust. So make sure you have it set up in a relatively dry room. Always remember to put that dust cover over it when it's not in use. If you are thinking about getting this mic... stop thinking about it, and get it! You will NOT be disappointed. You will be impressed. If you're an amateur like me, and you are building a home studio... people will see this mic and KNOW you are getting serious about your music. 5+ out of 5 for value and quality. Peace.

Rode NT1 (5th gen) is versatile, phenomenal. Parkdeals reliably delivered.
The reputation of this mic's line is already legendary...and well deserved. It comes excellently packaged from the manufacturer. The external shipping packaging was designed to protect it well and minimize shock to the mic, which I really appreciate. When I ordered it, the length of time for receipt was longer than I had hoped for because I was anxious to get it, and I was concerned about that, but it did arrive two days EARLIER that promised, which I was happy to see. If it had been shipped closer to the order date, I would have been ecstatic, but the monitoring software indicated it didn't go out for days...if I hadn't been antsy, this would probably not have bothered me at all...I still received it before it was promised. So I'd be inclined to order from these folks again. The mic is absolutely impressive. Sensitive to all the right sounds without excessive noise floor. Recording quality is phenomenal...unbelievable. It is insanely easy to use with a 32-bit float supporting software through a USBc cable (provided). It also comes with an XLR cable for folks with more professional equipment. Remember to download the ASIO plug in from rode.com. It is attractive, looks like it belongs in the studio, and fits precisely into the Rode boom (a separate purchase) which is solid and strong enough to support it properly and silently in any position I'd need. The mic also comes with a dust cover so I can protect it when not in use, an added touch that those making every attempt to take care of their recording equipment value. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase Rode products from this merchant again!

The Rode NT1 is hands down one of the best microphones I’ve added to my studio.
The Rode NT1 is hands down one of the best microphones I’ve added to my studio. The clarity and detail it captures is incredible—everything sounds natural, balanced, and clean, with just the right amount of warmth. Whether I’m recording vocals, acoustic guitar, or even voiceovers, the NT1 delivers a professional, polished sound with minimal need for post-processing. The self-noise is practically nonexistent, making it ideal for quiet recording environments where every subtle nuance matters. You can tell Rode put serious thought into the design—from the capsule tuning to the rugged metal body that feels built to last. The included shock mount and pop filter are also high-quality, which adds even more value to the package. Setup was quick and seamless with my audio interface (just XLR + phantom power and you’re good to go). It’s not a flashy mic, but that’s what makes it perfect—it focuses entirely on delivering clean, accurate recordings without gimmicks. For home studios, podcasting, or even pro setups on a budget, the NT1 punches way above its price point. I can confidently say this mic belongs in any serious mic locker.

Microphone is hands down one of the best mics for the price that I've seen
I love the sound quality for the price the microphone comes in at, it's a beast of a microphone, and it lets you choose which type of audio interface you're going to use, between USB C and XLR, very versatile! It was pretty easy to set up with the USB C cable and didn't require additional hardware other than a stand for it, which I would very much recommend that you get one with it. With a stand included, it's still less than other high end XLR/USB microphones, and the quality is there. It's really good, and a much needed upgrade over my Rode NT-USB which is also an amazing microphone. I'd recommend this mic to all my friends if I'm being real with you, it's that good for the price. Love it.

Great quality.
Really good for the cost. I have no regrets. Even the shock mount feels sturdy. Recording is crisp with low latency even when using a poor quality USB cable (for the sake of testing). Also heavier than I expected but I don't mind.

Another Rode product I love!
I’ve been a Rode user since my film college days and I am again impressed with how good their products are. I recently started getting into music and I needed something that isn’t going to break my bank but has good quality. I landed on this after doing some research and I am super happy I did! Love the quality of the sound I get and the versatility of the dual connectors. USB-C has been a life saver if you just want to record something quick even on your iPhone. XLR is always just better and get that “raw” recording with more information and quality, but I love having both options especially if you travel! The design of the mic is also sleek and clean! One thing I do wish I knew, or maybe because I skipped reading any of the manuals that come with it, is that the microphone records sound only from one side (you facing the gold dot side) For some reason, and I wasn’t the only one, I thought that having the Rode logo facing me was the way, or I just thought it didn’t matter lol. Oh boy it did. I kept hearing my cat in the other room instead of myself, until I went online to look up what environment of the house sounds best for recording and one video said made sure your mic is turned the right way first :-D After I got that figured out, I love everything about this mic!
